ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Detectives of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) are said to be investigating a burglary that occurred Saturday night, June 15, 2024, at a residence in John's Hole, Tortola.

According to reports, two masked individuals, armed with firearms, entered the home, and accosted the occupants. They assaulted a female member of the household then quickly fled after other occupants were alerted to their presence.

“The investigation into this crime is proceeding diligently, and the RVIPF has directed the requisite support and assistance to the victims,” the RVIPF stated in a press release late Sunday, June 16, 2024.

This incident followed another similar home invasion, which occurred at Slaney Hill on June 5, 2024, in which a female was also assaulted.

The RVIPF said it is prioritising the investigation of both matters because both are indicative of a sinister trajectory in the behaviour of criminals, which has seemingly become more debased.

Detectives are said to be pursuing several lines of inquiry in an effort to bring the offenders to justice.

‘Disturbing turn of events’- CoP Collins

Commissioner of Police Mark Collins has appealed to members of the public who may have information about these and other crimes to provide this information to the police.

“This disturbing turn of events in the local crime patterns has understandably caused an elevated level of concern among all well-thinking and law-abiding residents, but this new crime trend should also spur society toward action,” he stated.

Persons can “confidentially” call the Crime Stoppers line 800-8477 (TIPS) or overseas call 1-284-800-8477 with the relevant information or contact the RVIPF Intelligence Unit at 284-368-9339.

Police said any information, no matter how seemingly insufficient, could be important to solving these crimes.

"Persons can “confidentially” call the Crime Stoppers line" why is the word "confidentiality" in speech marks? Is it not really confidential?

Exactly why laws on self defense need reconsideration. Also weed should be legal remove the criminality & let the people plant their own. Thinking of it the 21 year old if he was jumped should have a legal firearm, & put his hand in the earth for three months, than getting an illegal gun & putting his hands on other people & their jewelry.

Bad example because he could have done something else besides rob. Like sell his gun, all three bullets and hustle instead.

I hope the police break them arms like an "accident"

And send them up balo in pumpkin cell so they too can get assaulted.

The community needs to open their eyes the criminals are starting to take an inch further

We've become so used to seeing guns, drugs, break ins etc that its must another day for us

But these guys are taking a step further and attacking you in your home even if you not resisting. This is serious

How many of you can sit by and watch some young gun man built like flag pole assaulting your daughter or wife?? Then thru get away on outstanding for how many months and years.

Not until a female from the “ We Outside “ get hurt that’s when it will trend with people being proactive. It’s so unfortunate how much people don’t care until it’s at home or a club member.

Legal or not, if you enter my home to commit a crime against me, you will have to be carried out in a body bag. We are protecting ourselves and will deal with it later by law, but at least the robbers won't assault or kill my family. We need to implement the "Standing Your Ground Law" when outsiders feel they can come in to hurt us.

100% agree. In places like the UK if you attack a robber in your own home, you are liable to be arrested. Criminals these days have more rights than the victims, its WOKE madness. The law should be if a threat is on your property, you should have the God given right to use appropriate force to remove it. In the great state of Florida, the sheriffs are offering free shooting lessons so when a robber, rapist, murderer comes to harm you, you won't miss when you shoot them. Saves tax payers money.

Just like a Roach Motel, they may check-in, but they won't check out! People are fed up and will bear arms by any means necessary to protect their homes.

Monkey know which tree to climb. Some neighborhoods they won’t messed with. I know they can’t come to my house the dogs (Jesus and Moses) will rip them apart.

For all who think that they can fight with a robber, be very careful. If the robber run away from your house do not shoot him let him go, as you can be charged with a crime such as murder.

Correct any way we can use to defend ourselves is illegal. It is so stupid.

Our safety is ours & ours alone to protect. Your survival in this world is your own right.

No police, king or whoever will be there to assure our saftey.

They have the right to their own safety by law so they will never fight for ours.

They think they are enough to protect others, but they are not a guardian angel and will never protect anyone during the act, only clean up and investigate after we've been slaughtered or robbed.

We are only allowed dogs that are pets but most people knows you cant control a animal. Thus most robbers avoid animals to begin with as uncontrollable. Some people dont get it and say their dog will do nothing but animals are unpredictable, thus they are the prefect defense in a system where self defense is outlawed.

The system is so broken this is why crime escalates and people get illegal arms.
