Fat Hog Bay resident to stand trial for gun possession

Kevin Moorehead will stand trial Nov. 28 in the Magistrate’s Court.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – A 30 year-old Fat Hogs Bay resident found with a Glock 40 pistol in a vehicle he was driving in February 2011 will stand trial in the Magistrate’s Court on November 28, 2011 before Magistrate Tamia Richards.

Kevin Moorehead, who is facing carrying an unlicensed firearm and unlawful possession of ammunition charges, denied knowledge of the firearm in a previous court appearance.

The defendant landed in hot water after a vehicle search conducted by Police in the wee hours of Tuesday February 8, 2011 resulted in the firearm seizure.

According to Police records, while on patrol around 2:45 a.m, officers of the Royal Virgin Islands Police Task Force followed a vehicle from the Walter Francis Drive into the Free Bottom area.

Upon arrival at a local nightclub, both the vehicle and driver were searched resulting in the recovery of a Glock 40 pistol and what is suspected to be cannabis.

Moorehead was the lone occupant of the vehicle.

He is on $20,000 bail and will be represented by Herbert McKenzie
