PALESTINA ESTATE, Tortola, VI– Deputy Commissioner of Police in the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) Ms Jacqueline E. Vanterpool says despite her professional accomplishment and resilience in the job, she continues to face name-calling as a top-ranking officer in the force.

Ms Vanterpool, who made the revelations in a candid conversation during the Sunday, May 19, 2024, edition of Real Talk with Karia J. Christopher, added that the accusations caused her to write six resignation letters.

“I went through all the name-calling down to this very day. I like women, I don't like men… far away from the truth,” she added.

DCP Vanterpool said being a woman in the force has resulted in her facing an enormous amount of difficulties as well as personal challenges, even as she has big dreams of becoming the first Commissioner of Police.

She shared details of being oppressed as a female voice in the force before gaining training in the UK. “My desire was only to help women, because of what I went through. I was trying to spare them from going down the same path,” she added.

Family against her joining RVIPF

Ms Vanterpool shared that her family never wanted her to be in the force, but she had a warning from her brother she would never forget. “He said sis, I could not stop you from coming in here, but I want you to make your brother one promise… don't let none of these men in here get between your legs,” she shared.

“I looked at my brother and I didn't say a word because I was wondering why he was saying that, but I will tell you…. As I went through my journey, I recognised why my brother made that statement to me.”

Ms Vanterpool said for females in the force, her mission has been to take women under her wings and to tell them that they are more than just a sexual tool.

“You have values, you have standards, keep your head above the waters. Let us work together as a team. So that's all I've been doing since I joined the force, speaking with the females, but the labels that I got were not easy,” she said, adding that it won’t stop her.

Ms Vanterpool said she remains confident, in God. “I know where God brought me from, so that is why I can speak so openly about it."

The BVI is known for getting involved in peoples business when its not their own business. It not an excuse, its a habit.

Ms Vanterpool, there is no need for you to justify such to anyone. Its not their business. However, being a woman is not the real reason for the bullying. It's because you are a BV Islander. Those illiterates who are on the BVI force because they could not find a job at home will do anything to get BV Islanders out of the force. Remember how they tried to frame Supper Cop? Fortunately, for him, people saw through the facade.

Sadly Jacky will not pass the strict vettin procedures for a CoP - not sure any BVIslander can. Even if she could she should retire. She done her bit but not what is needed now to sort out the mess we in.

Oh please STOP IT people with all the rumors and innuendos!
Beloved officer Vanterpool just continue to keep your head and your ethics high and impeccable as you've always done and ignore the naysayers. You know, jealousy is like a canker infection of the mouth - underneath all of the yak yak is nothing but hot air and self doubt.
    Just continue to power foward....

I must admit that her brother gave her good advice, seeing its normal in the BVI Police Force to have female police officers dating and having affairs with the male police officers, even the married ones. Whenever, you see a female police officer pregnant rest assured a police man is the father. That just tells you that there is no morale in that force.
All day long they sit in the Canteen and discuss BVIslanders. I hope Jackie will be able to make a difference.

Please, this statement is not relevant . Tell us about the way you are going to make the force better, solve crime and rebuild the force moral. This is your personal life ,you don't owe any explanation to anyone. Either you love men or women that doesn't take away your ability to perform the job you decide to apply for. One thing I know you can't be part of the problem and be part of the solution at the time. Please, choose one. BE honest.

So this is the caliber of leadership in BVI contribution to fighting crime! Yesterday she informed the world of her mental issues. Today it's about her sexual preference and opening of her legs to her male colleagues. How accurate can she be expected to know her gender and why her expose' to the world at large
Can't the BVI find whole and normal for the handling of the public affairs?
She make Slowande look like Einstein...jeezum bred!

This person has revealed and demonstrated that she is afflicted with mental instability.
Shouldn't she be relieved of her position. as a Police
    Officer?
    Help Us Father God!
BVI would be comedy central but peoples lives are at stake in this nonsensical and pathetic functioning Governance.
