Fallen tree blocks roadway @ Port Purcell
Reports are that it may have toppled as a result of high winds and fell in the area of the Port Purcell gate, adjacent to the O'Neal warehouses.
While it is not clear if anyone was hurt or whether there were damages to property as a result of the fallen tree, motorists were seen skilfully driving around the tree as they traversed the area.
Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) will bring you more updates as to when the tree is removed.
Meanwhile, the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration’s (NOAA) annual Atlantic hurricane forecast shows an abnormally active season in the coming months.
The Atlantic Hurricane Season, which officially started on June 1, 2020, ends November 30.
For the sixth straight year, a named tropical system formed in the Atlantic basin ahead of the start date of the season called Tropical Storm Arthur, became the first named storm of 2020.
NOAA is forecasted between 13 and 19 named storms, six to 10 of which could become hurricanes. Three to six of those hurricanes could develop into major hurricanes — category 3, 4, or 5 storms with winds of 111 miles per hour or higher.
