MIAMI, Florida, USA- Former Premier of the Virgin Islands Mr Andrew A. Fahie has received another delay to his sentencing.

After several delays, Mr Fahie was scheduled to be sentenced on June 25, 2024; however, his legal team successfully applied for a postponement.

Mr Fahie, 53, who was found guilty on February 8, 2024, on charges of drug smuggling, money laundering, and racketeering, after he was arrested at a Miami Airport on April 28, 2022, will now be sentenced on August 5, 2024.

Assuming sentencing takes place as currently scheduled, Mr Fahie will have spent an additional 179 days in custody post-conviction before the day of sentencing.

Minimum 10-year-sentence requested

According to court records seen by our News Centre, Mr Fahie, through his lawyers, has moved for a sentence that is no more than the statutorily required minimum sentence of 120 months [10 years], which, in accordance with United States v. Booker, 543 U.S. 220 (2005), is a reasonable sentence that adequately reflects the seriousness of the offense and provides just and reasonable punishment.

Mr Fahie’s lawyers also proposed that credit must be given for time served.

Ex Ports boss to be sentenced June 20

Meanwhile, former Managing Director of the BVI Ports Authority (BVIPA) Oleanvine Pickering-Maynard, who was arrested with Mr Fahie in Miami, will be sentenced on June 20, 2024.

Pickering-Maynard had pleaded guilty to cocaine conspiracy charges as part of a plea deal with the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) to testify against Mr Fahie.

Her son, Kadeem S. Maynard, also pleaded guilty to cocaine conspiracy charges as part of a similar plea deal and was sentenced on November 20, 2023, to 57 months in prison for conspiracy to import cocaine into the United States.

from not guilty plea to requesting the minimum now . wasted the court time . A plea deal would have saved you some of the money your lawyer walked away with.

But he was still under house arrest, which counts too as time served because his freedom was still taken away.

@ Rise. Rise to where? He will arrive back to the BVI after his term is served where he will be shamed. What a fall from GRACE! They have made us look really bad. This happens all over the world in small islands where the top brass eats very well and the paupers can barely survive.

I agree with the request. It should only be about 5 years cause he never saw or touched product only the money. He was only thinking bout doing the deal it was never really agreed upon. Lastly it was entrapment by the Maynards.

the fact that he fell for the entrapment says a lot about him, so stop your fart!
the fact that he touched the money is worst than touching the drug. Because of his dealings of getting the drugs to the USA, a place that is not his place is the reason for them in the USA to lock him up and throw away the keys. Watch you self. Then that one there talking about immunity!! To much crap happening between elected politician, and they getting away with it because of this stupid immunity fart!!!!! So because you in leadership position you must do what you want? Not under God's heavens, and then still mocking God. He go deal with all of them, tic tok, tic, tok tok; time longer than twine!!!!!!!! A whole bunch of them God is watching in the Caribbean, wait and see God work, remember this!!!!!

So you had a chance to plea guilty or struct a deal like Maynard but now you want to beg for leniency. Lol you funny. When the bvi people beg for a break from 24/7 lockdown you didn't show leniency. Instead you paid a local barge to "patrol" our boarders wwhen UK offered assistance for free. You used or tax money while the rest of us was locked with no income and surviving on scrap's

Where was the leniency when y'all refused to fix the terrible roads

Where was the leniency when y'all refused to fix infrastructure

Where was the leniency when you kept pulling funds from out social security?

Where was the leniency when you handed out those Grant's to fake farmers and fishers?

I hope they give you the maximum sentence let karma hold you

And don't forget to hold on to that soap tight.

Hopefully you finally lose some weight in there. You won't have out tax dollars to fund your lifestyle (well you probably tho since our government allowed you to retire and still reap out tax dollars while in jail smh) set of crooks crying about colonialism

Yah didn't show leniency when you was about to deal with cartels and sell out the bvi!

Give him the maximum sentence. He knew exactly what he was doing and got involved willingly. No one set him up. His actions have greatly harmed this country, and it will take years, if not decades, to undo the damage he and his idiot supporters have caused.

A lot of you rejoicing and have everything for a joke but let me remind you God don't sleep. Everything in life is a matter of timing. If it was injustice, set up or whatever the situation God don't sleep. Why rejoice? Fall on your knees and pray it don't happen to you or your family don't enjoy another person downfall.
