Fahie: I don’t play political adultery
According to the 1st district representative, there are troublemakers who are trying to make his constituents doubt his loyalty and he will not stand for such nonsense.
“Sometimes I go around and I hear that. It is nonsense, you put me in. You are my employers, and if you have a problem with what I am, that is up to you not me. I am loyal from since 1999 [when] I joined the Virgin Islands Party (VIP) with you the people,” he emphasised.
Despite, the mischief, Hon. Fahie said he is still around, and urged his supporters not to let anybody who has “rips and wrinkles type syndrome” throw them off him.
“If I was crooked, you would have crooked me in the votes. If I was not loyal it would have been reflected in the votes. Don’t mind people when they come to you with this foolishness. Your man with a mission says who he is and even when I go wrong, you the people of the 1st scold me. I don’t play political adultery because that is what it is,” added the district representative, who has been elected thrice.
He added, “I was listening to a launch in District 2 the other night and heard one of the people wife say that "the way a man treats his home, his wife and his children is the way he will treat the people he represents in his district. It can´t be true over there and false over here. It has to be truth no matter where. Well I fall in that category too. I am faithful to my wife, I treat my family well and it got to reflect in you the people.”
Fahie not doing anything? It was far cry from his witty presentations, as the humble politician told his supporters last evening was all about “reasoning”.
He spoke about the many accomplishments as a representative and Education Minister that included the Power School programme Vision 20/20 that allows teachers to obtain their degree from the University of the West Indies and the many developments in the district.
The confident district rep. pointed out that all he stated can be checked out and urged supporters not to judge him from the blogs.
"We have to change our philosophy and not gravitate towards the mele, although it's good to have information. Seven people saying the same thing seven times a day ain't 49; that's how the blogs go.”
“So you can't measure Fahie from the blogs because if you put up my picture, that's 30 blogs and if you add the story to it, that's a next 30. That's 60 and probably its only one paragraph. I know the bloggers are my friends, once they see my picture they gone, so I don't worry about that. I don't measure my life from no blogs, but it has its place too in society,” he charged, to the amusement of his supporters.
Minister Fahie is one of the youngest Ministers in the Virgin Islands’ political history. He was educated at the British Virgin Islands High School, the University of the Virgin Islands, and Florida A & M University.
The first district representative first served his country as an educator when he taught Mathematics at the then BVI. High School then went on to become Assistant Principal of the same school.
He was also an instructor at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College and an Assistant Education Officer during 1991.
Most VI political pundits and commentators have already declared Mr. Fahie’s seat “a safe seat” and a stronghold for the VIP, the party that was founded by the man that represented that district for some 38 years (1957-1995) without interruption, Hamilton Lavity Stoutt.
