Fahie “humbled” to be re-elected
He also said the Virgin Islands Party will “review everything” and make the necessary adjustments.
Hon. Fahie (VIP) received 611 votes while his lone challenger in the district, independent candidate, Preston Stoutt received 317 votes. Coincidentally, he had also received the same amount of votes at the 2007 elections.
“Firstly I want to thank Almighty God for His grace & mercy that has brought us through the 2011 General Elections. Next I want to thank the people of the 1st District and my family for their support, prayers and guidance during the elections and daily. Through them God has allowed me to be victorious in the recently concluded 2011 General Elections in being re-elected as the 1st District representative for the 4th consecutive time with 611 votes which is the same 611 votes that I received in 2007,” he said in a statement.
He said he is humbled and thankful to the people of his District, given that over 40 persons contested the 2011 General Elections for 13 seats and they made sure once again that he was one of the 13.
“Although I am in the opposition I will continue to be steadfast in purpose and diligent in actions as I represent the people of the 1st District and the people of this Territory so that generations to come can be pleased with my efforts.”
According to Fahie, the VIP will improve upon its weak areas to make them strong and will keep ensuring that they strengthen their already strong areas as well. “We will support what is right for the people. We will review everything and make the necessary adjustments.”
Fahie took the opportunity to congratulate the new Government, stating that “we must now unite in our efforts to make a brighter Virgin Islands. We thank everyone who voted for the Virgin Islands Party and even those that didn't because the democratic process was followed.”
