Exclusive: Governor Duncan dodges question on ‘if he is a racist’
What is racism?
When asked by our newsroom if he is a racist as suggested by Mr Maduro, in a written response emailed to our newsroom, Governor Duncan defined Racism or Prejudice, as “discrimination, or antagonism directed against someone of a different race based on the belief that one's own race is superior.”
Mr Duncan said “this has been one of humanity’s greatest scourges.” He went on in his written response to our newsroom to claim “as someone who spent his formative years in Africa and who has lived and worked in many countries I have seen racism in many forms.”
In further dodging the answer to the question as to whether he is a racist, the unpopular Governor said “it appears to be a misconception in some quarters that racism is only a white on black phenomenon. The southern Sudanese, the people of Rwanda, or the Albanian Kosovars know through the bloodshed in their countries in the past two decades that nothing could be further from the truth.”
Governor Duncan: The BVI is racist
Furthermore, instead of keeping the focused on answering to the charge of him being a racist, as alleged by Edmund Maduro, Mr Duncan claimed that “I am saddened to observe the extent of casual racism and discrimination in the BVI, in media commentary and more widely amongst the three broad communities that make up our population. I do not believe it reflects the traditional values of the BVI. It certainly does not reflect modern multicultural Britain.”
The readers will note that Governor Duncan still has not directly answered the question, but said in his final answer on the topic that “Mr Maduro can naturally exercise his right to freedom of speech, but the three medals I am entitled to wear from the UK, US and NATO tell a very different story about my own personal convictions and the extent I am prepared to defend them.”
When told today April 20, 2016 of the Governor’s response to his allegation, Mr Maduro said what he understands the governor to be saying is that “because he lived and work in Africa he is not racist, however, it does not mean he is not a racist…South Africa is a country in Africa and they had the biggest racist system ever on the continent call Apartheid, so what is this man saying to us?”
Mr Maduro said he would not comment further until he sees the full answers from Mr Duncan. The talk show host has called since last year for Governor Duncan to be recalled, as according to Mr Maduro, he has “no regards for the constitution and the people have lost confidence in him.”

maduro is also a white guy

We live in a world where "black" children are being indoctrinated into believing that their history started with slavery and that their race didn't make any contributions to the world, and this couldn't be further from the truth. THATS what systematic racism is.
The system crumbles when black people regain their knowledge of self and realized that they are the originators of civilization.
You got some nerves coming over here with your bs.
Long story short, many come here from South Africa, UK and the like with the same racist behaviour, and if we don't wake up and see they are trying to do the same thing here, but we must not let them. Leaders must be smart and plan for our future. If we as a country do not move away from being an Overseas Territory of Great Britian, those bastards' aim is to enslave us again.
Wake up, people, this is what is brewing. We don't go to UK to be third class citizens. Let them stay up there in their 300 year-old flats. A bunch of jealous Edomites, can't live peacefully with no one. Let them all go to Mars. We will be happy without them, as we once were. Wicked generation of Vipers!
Also, you are entirely correct that there is history pre-slavery (and during the time of slavery but not merely as slaves) for "black" people. A lot of this has been lost which is devastating, but there is also historical documentation to be found. A couple of small points - with the generalist comments about ancestors being genocidal and all white men being tarnished for eternity with the stain of slavery, bear in mind (i) that some "black" history also includes conflict, conquest and general bad boy behaviour and (ii) that there is a deep involvement of "black" people in the slave system as slave-owners and suppliers.

And I say, there are some of us of colour who will die for the cause, but we will never be put in chains again by the white master, we have started to fight already. Listen to our words, we are not joking. In this day and age, why are we still praising the hands that oppressed up and enslaved us?
