ESHS Houses 3 & 2 dominate in B’ball championship
A 7-point half time lead for House 3 Juniors had increased to 15 points at the end of the third, but then House 2 went on all out offense in an attempt to steal victory from the jaws of defeat. Jacoy Walwyn top scored for House 3 with 9 points, J’Moi Liburd added 8 and MVP Franklyn Penn 7 with 5 rebounds, 2 steals and 4 assists. House 2’s charge was led by Romain Minott’s 9 points, 8 rebounds, 1 block, 3 steals and 3 assists. Tyler Cameron scored 8 whilst Chris Andre Stevens contributed 6.
In the Senior Championship Game, House 2 raced into a 24-14 half time lead and strode away to a 25 point advantage by the end of the third. House 3 pulled back some respectability with a 16 point 4th, but it was too little too late. Kevon “Shaq” Lettsome, the left handed Mumba, led the way with 15 points, 4 rebounds, 5 steals and 3 assists for House 2. Ashfield Frett added 12 points and 8 rebounds and Kevin Bodkin scored 11 points with 4 rebounds, 1 block and 3 steals. For House 2 N’Kosane Stapleton and Mackebo Fahie both scored 8 and Mickey Joseph 6.
The last round of group play saw House 2 secure its place in both the Junior and Senior Finals with wins over House 4. In the Juniors Romain Minott's 9 points led his team to a tight 14-11 victory as House 2 overcame a 7-9 half time deficit to outscore their opponents 7-2 in the second half for the win. Minott added 4 blocks, 2 rebounds and 1 assist, whilst House 4’s points were shared by Terrique Wattley Jnr. with 5 and Makeem Hastings with 4. Hastings also picked up 9 rebounds.
In the Senior Game House 2 romped to a double digit win over House 4 35-21. Ashfield Frett was the stand out performer with 12 points and 7 rebounds. Kevon Lettsome added 9 and Kevin Bodkin 5. Lettsome also had 4 assists and 5 rebounds. For House 4, Shakoy George scored 10 with 5 rebounds, 2 blocks and 4 steals, D’Moi Matthew added 5 rebounds to his 8 point return.
The Championship began on May 1, with House 1, juniors beating House 4, 20-19 thanks to a large 4th quarter in which they outscored House 4, 10-4 to take the win. Rasheele Roberts top scored with 7 points, Vincent Wattley added 4 along with 2 rebounds and 2 assists, whilst Paul Mourillon also scored 4 points. For House 4, Akeem Nibbs scored 10 points, Rolondo Rogers added 5 with 8 rebounds and Thomas Richardson scored 3.
In the senior match up, House 4 extracted some revenge by coming out 32-30 winners over House 1, thanks to Shaqueil Prescott’s 8 point contribution. Stefan Richardson scored 7 with 3 rebounds and 2 assists and Shakoy George had 6 points and 6 rebounds. For House 1, Kishawn Fahie scored 8 points with 2 rebounds, Vincent Wattle 8 points with 5 rebounds and Kemuel Gumbs 6 points and 5 rebounds.
House 3 made their debut in the Championship with a tense 19-17 win over House 2, on the back of Joash Victors 5 points and 4 point contributions from Tahj Malone and Franklyn Penn. For house 2 Albert Hatchett got 9 points and 6 rebounds whilst Romain Minott scored 8 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 1 assist.
In the senior game, House 2 beat House 3 29-27 with Ashfield fret scoring 15 points with 6 rebounds and 3 steals. Kevon “Shaq” the left handed Mumba Lettsome added 10 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals and one assist. For house 3 Hasani Halbert scored 14 points, Mickey Joseph 6 and Nkosane Stapleton 5.
As the Elmore Stout High School Inter House Tournament continued on the court at long bush House 2 secured wins over House 1 in both the junior and senior division. Both games featured turning point 3rd quarters with House 2 juniors breaking an 8 point half time by taking the 3rd 8-2 and going on to secure a 21-16 victory. Romain Minott top scored with 8 points, 2 rebounds, 1 block, 3 steals and 1 assist. Chris Andre Stevens added 6 points, 4 rebounds, 3 steals, and 1 assist.
For House 1, Rasheele Roberts scored 8 points, 5 rebounds, 1 block, 4 steals and one assist, whilst Vincent Wattley contributed 6 points, 8 rebounds and 2 steals.
In the senior game, House 2 ran away in the 3rd quarter, outscoring house 1 by 18-7 to take a 32-17 lead into the final quarter. House 1 fought back right to the final buzzer scoring 14 points to their opponents 4, but it wasn’t quite enough as house 2 held on to win 38-31. For House 2, Ashfield Frett scored 14 points and added 6 rebounds and 1 block. Kevon “Shaq” the left handed Mumba finished with 8 points. For House 1, Kishawn Fahie scored 14 points with 5 rebounds, 3 steals and 3 assists, whilst Kevin Jones had 4 points, 3 rebounds, 2 steals and 2 assists.
House 3 Juniors beat House 4 21-16, with Franklyn Penn getting 8 points, 6 steals, 1 rebound, 1 block and 1 assist. He was aided by 5 points from Joash Victor and 4 from J’Moi Liburd. Victor also added 6 steals whilst Liburd picked up 3 rebounds and 3 steals. For house 4, Akeem Nibbs scored 6 points and Terrique Wattley 5 with 6 rebounds.
In the senior division, House 3 beat house 4, 32-21. Elvette Dore scored 8 with 2 rebounds and one assist. Nkosane Stapleton scored 6 with 4 steals and Mikey Jospeh 2 points and 7 rebounds. House 4 were led by Shaquiel Prescott’s 8 points and 2 steals along with Shakoy George who scored 6 with 6 rebounds.
