ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Well-known school administrator Mr Cecil A. Hodge is calling it a day after 36 years of service at Elmore Stoutt High School (ESHS).

Mr Hodge, an Assistant Principal, has also decided to bow out with the Class of 2024.

His retirement was announced by ESHS Principal Vanessa K. Garraway at the school’s graduation ceremony at Multi-Purpose Sports Complex today, Thursday, June 27, 2024.

“For more than 30 years this gentleman has called our school his second home. He has progressed through the ranks of the school and is now an Assistant Principal. Throughout his years, his nurturing tendency has made him father to many students around the Virgin Islands.

“Currently, he is the only man in our administration team, and he constantly takes care of all four women,” Principal Garraway stated.

‘Hoopla specialist’

She described Mr Hodge as a “hoopla specialist”, as he is always looking for some way to add extras to every programme, no matter how small it is.

“Mr Hodge, you wear many hats around ESHS, depending on which stakeholder you are speaking with. It has been great working alongside you, and I know we are all going to miss you when you are travelling around the world,” Mrs Garraway stated, adding that Mr Hodge is retiring after 36 years of service to ESHS and the territory.

Hodge given his flowers

Minister for Education, Youth Affairs and Sports Hon Sharie B. deCastro (AL), following her address, recognised Mr Hodge for his service to education in the territory.

Noting that she wanted to give Mr Hodge his flowers while he was “still here”, Hon de Castro, along with Acting Chief Education Officer (CEO) Orlandette R. Crabbe, presented Mr Hodge with a bouquet of flowers.

Unfortunately, that’s the norm in the BVI. People hiding behind their keypads to bad talk people and they are worst than who they are bad talking.

OMG!! You are just wrong for that. There is saying that says, "if you can't say something good, don't say anything at all."

Because someone at your work place I'm sure can't wait to hear that you are gone.
