LONDON, United Kingdom- After a rebellion by members of his Conservative Party, United Kingdom (UK) Prime Minister Alexander Boris de Pfeffel Johnson will step down as its leader today, Thursday, July 7, 2022, after a wholesale rebellion of his cabinet, a wave of government resignations and a devastating loss of party support.

According to the BBC, Mr Johnson plans to remain in the role of prime minister until a successor is chosen, likely in the fall; however, there was no indication of whether his party’s lawmakers, many of whom have turned against him, would go along with that.

Flurry of resignations

Mr Johnson’s decision capped a dizzying 48 hours in British politics that began on Tuesday evening with the unexpected resignation of two of his highest-ranking ministers, the chancellor of the Exchequer, Rishi Sunak, and the health secretary, Sajid Javid. That was followed by a flurry of resignation announcements from other lawmakers and officials all day Wednesday and on Thursday morning.

Government resignations have since surpassed 50.

The resignation of Mr Johnson brings an abrupt end to a stormy tenure that was distinguished by a landslide election victory three years ago and a successful drive to pull Britain out of the European Union, but that collapsed under the weight of a relentless series of scandals.

Keir R. Starmer, the head of the opposition Labour Party, responding to reports, said it was “good news for the country that Boris Johnson has resigned,” but added: “It should have happened long ago.”

“He was always unfit for office. He has been responsible for lies, scandal and fraud on an industrial scale,” Mr Starmer wrote in a letter posted to his Twitter account. “And all those who have been complicit should be utterly ashamed.”

The straw that broke the camel’s back

Mr Johnson’s latest troubles erupted last week after a Conservative lawmaker, Chris Pincher, became drunk at an exclusive London club, where, it was alleged, he groped two men. Mr Johnson had appointed Mr Pincher to a senior party position in February despite earlier complaints of inappropriate behavior against Mr Pincher.

Mr Johnson at first denied being aware of the previous complaints, but it later emerged that he had known about them, and he eventually acknowledged that it was a mistake to have named Mr Pincher to the elevated position.

His resignation does not change anything in the relationship or Policy with the BVI. Check TOLA Radio today. Big rejoicing for SH and CR as they continue to lead the people astray. Good radio station but tired of hearing the same set of of voices and callers everyday.

It can make a big difference when he is replaced with someone else.
Depending on their views & the voice of their politics. He's been calling the shots & he has been idealizing the resurrection of an empire.

Sounds exactly like BVI and AF. But you aren't ready for that conversation.

Only if some of our leaders would have the same honour and resign as well. The system in the UK is working? Given the wide spread corruption uncovered in the CoI could we say the same thing?

system working? YOU mean 50+ ministers & secretaries have to resign for him to get the picture and you call that working? They resigned that's the definition of not working.

This is the same man who said that all the OTs need to fall in line and legalize same sex marriage. He and others like him have absolutely no respect for the religious beliefs of the OTs. When you mess with a praying people God will deal with you. Those of us that care about this BVI let us continue to pray to our God while doing our part on the ground. Ephesians 6:12 is speaking to us as a nation. We in a real fight with a real enemy, BUT God!!!!!!!!!????????
