GREENLAND, Tortola, VI- Action in the 2024 BVI Cricket Association (BVICA) T20 Tournament continued at Greenland Playfield on Sunday, April 21, 2024, with another two exciting matches.

In Zone A play, RTW Falcons defeated Police by 83 runs while, in Zone B, Renegades beat Grenada by 6 wickets.

Grenada chose to bat first

In the opening day’s play, Grenada won the toss and chose to bat against Renegades. They were soon regretting that decision as they were 3 wickets down for just 6 runs in the 4th over.

They were; however, able to limp to 109-7 off the allotted 16 overs after Grenada: Gary Prince (38 runs) and Jason Thomas (37 not out) held on at the crease.

Man of the Match Elcius Phillip had figures of 4-17 from 4 overs.

Renegades recover

Renegades then achieved victory on 111-4 from 12.3 overs.

They; however, had the worst possible start when Rickie Legair fell for a first-ball duck off the bowling of allrounder Gary Prince.

Fellow opener Marvin Robinson then played his way to a cautious unbeaten 37 from 32 balls to steer his side to victory. Robinson’s knock included 5 fours and 1 six.

Bodean Samuel (21 runs) and Chabilal Itwaru (18 not out) were the other significant contributors to the Renegades’ total.

Prince ended with 2 wickets for 22 runs from 3.3 overs.

Imran Smith bowls Falcons to victory against Police

RTW Falcons made the right decision in choosing to bat first against Police, as they amassed 225 for 5 from 20.0 overs.

Austin McDowall (53 runs), Joel Williams (45 runs), Damron Prince (33 runs), Sylvester Mitchell (20 not out), and Orlando Ollivierre (18 not out) all played a part in the Falcons’ challenging total.

Police resistance

Police then found themselves in the line of fire as they were bowled out for 142 off 17.4 overs

There was some early Police resistance; however, as opener Rueben Balkaram made a blistering 50 from 28 balls. Balkaram’s innings was laced with 5 fours and 4 sixes. Middle-order batsman Jason Bobb-Semple fought back with 32 from 16 in a vain effort. Extras accounted for 20 runs.

Man of the Match Imran Smith ended with 4-23 from 4 overs. Turby Xavier and Joel Williams had 2 wickets each for RTW Falcons.

Cricket lovely cricket continues on Sunday, April 28, 2024, at the same venue.

Royal Knights will be challenged by Rising Stars from 9:30 AM, and Vincy will seek to down RTW Falcons from 1:30 PM.
