Egypt interim government resigns unexpectedly
Egypt's military-backed interim government has resigned, Prime Minister Hazem Beblawi has announced.
The state-run al-Ahram newspaper said Housing Minister Ibrahim Mihlib was expected to succeed Mr Beblawi.
The decision was made after a cabinet meeting on Monday attended by armed forces chief and Defence Minister, Field Marshal Abdul Fattah al-Sisi.
The field marshal, who ousted Mohammed Morsi in July, is expected to announce soon that he will run for president.
