Easter Festival 2015 set for take-off- Jerrell A. George

Public Relations Officer of the Virgin Gorda Easter Festival Committee Mr Jerrell A. George told Virgin Islands News Online that, while the committee has made public most of the activities, there are a number of surprises that would make this year's celebrations even more special.
"It's also a good way to honour Honourable (Ralph T.) O'Neal," Mr George said.
Hon R. T. O’Neal pleased
The celebrations this year seeks to honour Honourable Ralph T. O'Neal, OBE (R9) whom the festival village has been named after- Hon Ralph T. O’Neal Festiville.
“It was very kind of them to name the village after me and I accepted. I am very pleased to do so. I consider it an honour and a very kind act of the people to do that. I hope to be there,” Hon O'Neal told this news site in an exclusive interview today, April 3, 2015.
The celebrations kick off tomorrow morning, April 4, 2015 with the traditional food fair in the Valley from 10am.
The opening ceremony will be held from 7pm at the Hon Ralph T. O’Neal Festiville in Spanish Town after which popular Jamaican artiste Tarrus Riley born Omar Riley will take to the stage.
Spotlight on Sistah Joyce
Opening the night for Tarrus Riley will be Virgin Gorda’s Sistah Joyce who will also be a competitor in the calypso competition the following night when she hopes to take the title with her two songs ‘Unity’ and ‘Victim’.
"I am not going to underestimate anybody but I'll just be trying my best to win back the crown," she said.
And while the song ‘Victim’ speaks of the need to stop the forms of violence affecting the world over, Sistah Joyce will be tickling the politicians’ a bit, after all what is a calypso competition without the politics being touched!
But reigning Calypso champion Lester "Ley Ley" Fontelio says he is coming hard as he intends to defend his title with all his might. His two songs are 'Praying for the country' and 'Degree of stupidity'.
The grand parade, which will start in the vicinity of the Fire Station in the Valley and end at the Hon Ralph T. O'Neal Festiville in Spanish Town, will be held on Monday April 6, 2015 from 12pm.
