EAST END/LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI - Roadworks in the East End/Long Look community have commenced as part of Government's commitment to fixing dilapidated roads in that community and across the Territory.

As such, motorists are being urged to drive with caution when approaching Fat Hog's Bay, as road resurfacing works are currently ongoing in that area.

Premier and Minister of Finance, Hon Andrew A. Fahie (R1), commenting on the initiative, said the works will make a difference for road users who traverse the area.

"I am grateful to our government, especially Minister Kye Rymer, who is an action man. I also extend my thanks to the team at the Public Works Department, led by Director Jeremy Hodge, for working diligently to make a difference for pedestrians and motorists," the Premier said in a statement via social media.

Gov't will work tirelessly to fix roads - Hon Fahie

The team is currently patching existing potholes and resurfacing the roadway.

Hon Fahie continued, "As promised to the Long Look/East End community, this Government will work tirelessly to have smooth roads throughout the Territory. We are gaining momentum and turning a new page. Soon the East End-Long Look Sewerage Project will be here, and we want our people to be ready for what is to come."

For 2020, Government announced that it will embark on a Territory-wide infrastructural development programme which includes road, water and sewerage networks.

The road rehabilitation and upgrade consist of drainage improvement, casting of edge of roads and resurfacing, including installation of retaining walls where necessary.

Paving a road ain’t fixing the actual road. Just paving it will only cost us more in the long run. Just close it and fix it!!!

Such an overused word in politics. Tirelessly: Definition: to work at a moderate pace for about 6 hours a day (excluding Friday afternoon, weekends, breaks and chat time).

Always the same from the government, painting over cracks doesn't fix anything. The roads were better here 20 years ago. It's disgraceful.

Your post is so foolish that I can't believe it made it on the site. If the government did nothing to try to fix the road you will be posting negative things on them. Now they fixing the road and working hard for the people you posting foolishness still. Just be thankful and done.

The proof is in the v. old pudding. This method doesn't work and costs a fortune. The sad thing is, everyone knows this (except you clearly). It just serves as a method of keeping people employed as they know the roads will collapse again within months. I'm not sure how your 'foolish' accusation can be justified but perhaps you're right. Maybe I'm missing the roads being fixed tirelessly (24 hours a day). Maybe there are no potholes and hazards on every bend. oh no...wait....idiot!

What is this? paving road that has to be dug again to lay pipes for the sewage? What kind of backward move is this??

Oh i see maybe sewage work not coming until final 6 months before next election. Common sense would dictate lay the pipes while the road is already dilapidated and then do one magnificent work in paving or resurfacing or rebuilding.

My God, We at East End ? Long Look continues to suffer in sewage. When will we be set free? when will promises be kept? I thought we were this close to getting the sewage problem sorted but by the look of thing it might be another decade when I form my new party run and win the election, but according to constitution this might never happen. Them who born here cannot get it done, who will???

The roads will be properly paved when the sewage project is fully completed. Until then they can just patch holes.

To be honest if you are a home/apartment owner you should have a septic . You should not be relying on the government ... their should not be any sewage running on the road or in the Ghut as a home owner you should be held accountable if your sewage overflows onto the road call the sewage truck to pump it stop sayin the government should do this n that
