Dr Pickering shares stories of faith & medicine in his new book
In a recent interview with Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), Dr Pickering explained that in the book he shares some of his experiences working in the medical profession. It follows his journey from university to internship and life since returning to the Virgin Islands in 1992.
Incorporating faith & your daily practice
Dr Pickering said through the book he aspires to show how faith can be incorporated into one’s daily practice without it having an overly religious overtone.
“So far the reception has been overwhelming,” he told VINO, “It’s more than I could have expected, anticipated…I’ve had more than I could have imagined from friends, and acquaintances I’ve met over the years in my travels throughout the world, it’s been truly amazing to me personally.”
‘An interesting read’- Dr Pickering
Walk in Faith & Medicine: Daily Lessons & Insights from a Doctor’s Handwritten Journal is currently only available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle launching to the local, regional, and international market on December 12, 2024.
“It’s an interesting read,” he continued, “It’s really true stories of work that I did [and] people I’ve worked with.”
He described the book as a mixture of pain and joy, suffering, success and failures with the constant theme of faith.
“[It’s about] how you share with people after someone has died, how you share in the joy after a miracle, and how painful it is to be a part of a stillbirth. So it’s worth a read,” the doctor added.
Dr Pickering said he expects to have copies of the book by the first week in January 2025 and will host an official book signing soon after.
On December 23, 2024, Dr Pickering’s book achieved the ranking of #1 on all three of Amazon’s Highest Sales Categories- Amazon’s Hottest New Releases, Amazon’s Most Wished For, and Amazon’s Most Gifted and Gift Ideas.
