LONG LOOK, Tortola, VI- Former Deputy Premier and Legislator Dr Kedrick D. Pickering has added author to his list of titles following the release of his book ‘Walk in Faith & Medicine: Daily Lessons & Insights from a Doctor’s Handwritten Journal’.

In a recent interview with Virgin Islands News Online (VINO), Dr Pickering explained that in the book he shares some of his experiences working in the medical profession. It follows his journey from university to internship and life since returning to the Virgin Islands in 1992.

Incorporating faith & your daily practice

Dr Pickering said through the book he aspires to show how faith can be incorporated into one’s daily practice without it having an overly religious overtone.

“So far the reception has been overwhelming,” he told VINO, “It’s more than I could have expected, anticipated…I’ve had more than I could have imagined from friends, and acquaintances I’ve met over the years in my travels throughout the world, it’s been truly amazing to me personally.”

‘An interesting read’- Dr Pickering

Walk in Faith & Medicine: Daily Lessons & Insights from a Doctor’s Handwritten Journal is currently only available on Amazon in both paperback and Kindle launching to the local, regional, and international market on December 12, 2024.

“It’s an interesting read,” he continued, “It’s really true stories of work that I did [and] people I’ve worked with.”

He described the book as a mixture of pain and joy, suffering, success and failures with the constant theme of faith.

“[It’s about] how you share with people after someone has died, how you share in the joy after a miracle, and how painful it is to be a part of a stillbirth. So it’s worth a read,” the doctor added.

Dr Pickering said he expects to have copies of the book by the first week in January 2025 and will host an official book signing soon after.

On December 23, 2024, Dr Pickering’s book achieved the ranking of #1 on all three of Amazon’s Highest Sales Categories- Amazon’s Hottest New Releases, Amazon’s Most Wished For, and Amazon’s Most Gifted and Gift Ideas.

Picko is a good man ,I dont think he can ever be voted back in but he should be utilized in an advisory role because he is wise and has good ideas . And he strikes a good balance of understandin that the expats pay a crucial role in growing the economy. I think he gets a bad rap just because he is not anti expat.

NONE OF US ARE PERFECT , AND WHEN WE DO GOOD THINGS , WE SHOULD BE GIVEN CREDIT / AND WHEN WE DO $%#@ WE SHOULD BE CALLED OUT / AS A POLITICIAN THE PEOPLE VOTED FOR YOU FOR A REASON , TO REPRESENT THEM AND THE COUNTRY'S ( BEST INTEREST ) AND IF THEY FAILED TO LIVE UP TO EXPECTATIONS , AND IF THEY FAILED BECAUSE OF ANYTHING BEYOND THEIR CONTROL , THEN THATS A NOT THEIR FAULT ,( BUT ) IF THEY FAILED BECAUSE OF ( NEGLIGENCE - INCOMPETENCE - OR THEIR EGO IS IN CONTROL OF THEM AND THE ARE ONLY INTE IS IN THEIR IMAGE IN SOCIETY / THEN THEY SHOULD BE CALLED OUT - SIMPLE AS THAT / ITS NOT ABOUT FRIENDSHIP , INTEGRITY IS IS MISSING , NO OFFENCE

First you need to take your feeling out of this. I can feel your anger through your writing . As you pointed out he has paid a political price and I stated that perhaps he would not be voted back in , however that does not negate the fact that he has valuable imput to the political discourse and his experience should be leveraged in a advisory capacity. He would be good advocate for the ex pat employers so that they have a local voice in Government. The fact is we cant just ignore the needs and wants of these large employers just because they are expats. Thats just bad business period.
