DR men found with fake VI visas ordered deported
Twenty-one-year-old Wilbin Encarnacion Rodriquez, 31-year-old Carlos Manuel Ventura Done, and 21-year-old Junior Manuel Mejia Aquino were also fined $600 or face one month in prison.
On May 24, 2019 Governor Augustus J. U. Jaspert ordered the three men deported within 7 days of the Deportation Order.
The Hispanic men were arrested on October 29, 2018 when they were discovered on a Dominican Republic cargo vessel that was docked in the territory.
Governor Jaspert wrote in the Deportation Order, gazetted May 29, 2019, that it had come to his knowledge that the men were not deemed to belong to the territory and they had been convicted of “the offence of being in possession of a forged visa contrary to section 37 of the Immigration and Passport Ordinance (Cap. 130), which is punishable with imprisonment of three months or more and, is a person whose presence in the Territory would, in the opinion of the Governor, acting after consultation with the Chief Immigration Officer, be undesirable and not conducive to the public good…”
