According to a release from the Government information service dated, 9 October 2018, Dr Thompkins will be assigned to the Department of Human Resources, Government of the Virgin Islands and will perform confidential intakes and screening with individual employees and departments for work and non-work related issues and conflicts.  He will also triage and review intakes in consultation with supervisors to resolve issues.

His other duties include coordinating, planning and scheduling client appointments, mediation, and department presentations in addition to training and other related functions in an efficient, timely and professional manner.

The EAP Counselor will ensure the smooth and efficient operation of the programme by managing the daily operations of the unit.  The office also provides frontline assessments, counselling and referral services by helping employees, supervisors and department heads settle work-related conflicts.

He has served as the Assistant Cabinet Secretary in the Cabinet Office over the last four years and as the Supervisor of Case Management at Mental Health Cooperative Incorporated.

Dr Thompkins holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in Economics and Finance from the Tennessee State University, a Master of Science in Social Work from the University of Tennessee, and Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) from the University of Texas at Austin.
