‘Don’t leave the territory’s flag up overnight!’ – Hon Walwyn admonishes Principals
He was speaking on Monday January 11, 2016 at a meeting for senior managers in the teaching profession and other professionals and heads of departments of the Ministry of Education and Culture held at Maria’s By The Sea.
“We are implementing a flag raising ceremony at most schools around the territory and will complete this at all schools by the end of the year,” he said.
The Minister stated that the ceremony is designed to teach the students a greater level of respect for the territory and all that it stands for.
“However, a drive around the islands to some of these schools, Principals, the lesson is lost if we simply have a ceremony one day and leave the flag – a symbol of our identity as Virgin Islanders – up all night to the beating and tattering by Mother Nature,” he said.
According to the controversial Minister, respect for the flag and what it stands for will give the students a greater appreciation for the territory that they call home.
“I am asking you again to assign students to daily raise and lower the flag at your schools. By doing this we teach them responsibility and we teach them respect. We teach them that the Virgin Islands is a part of a larger world and as citizens young or old we have a commitment to ensuring that our country is represented well even in the raising and lowering of our national symbol,” Honourable Walwyn said.

I don't think it would reach to that. Perhaps our kids will have to walk with a roll of toilet paper daily to ensure that does not happen.
Shut up. Useless man. Go pay the musicians. You have lost all the authority and respect to give people order of what to do and what not to do.
When a school does not have supplies for the teachers and students to use, what is the relevance of school flags leaving outside at nights. It is totally incomprehensible.
