Do not lose hope! - Hon. Christian on SCB Harbour Dev Project
The Representative made this announcement during the sixth sitting of the second House of Assembly today, February 12, 2013.
“I also want to remind the people of the Third District that the SCB Harbour Development is more complex than perhaps they’re made to believe,” said Hon. Christian.
He expressed that it was an initiative government started and continued to encourage “to see happen”. He added, however, “there are land issues that needed to be resolved.”
According to the At-Large Representative, “Government can’t go into the Third District in Sea Cows Bay and start doing any development along the shoreline unless all the issues regarding land ownership [are] resolved.”
He further related that when Government embarks on such development, it needs to ensure that there are no obstacles in the way of the private developers, which are the ones that primarily would be driving the development of any waterfront development in the Sea Cows Bay area.
The Government, he said, would have their roles to play through various departments such as the Town and Country Planning Department and Conservation and Fisheries Department in ensuring that private developers are not doing anything in an illegal manner.
He continued that government would not frustrate people’s desire to develop those lands once all of the “legal hurdles” have been cleared.
Residents of the Sea Cows Bay area, who were anticipating the continued or future development of the project, were encouraged to not lose hope or believe that government would frustrate their desire to do that. “Instead,” Hon. Christian added, “this government will continue to encourage and support the development of the Sea Cows Bay Harbour Development Project”.
In January 2013, Representative for the Third District Hon. Julian Fraser, RA, told his constituents that Government had stopped the project in the district because of greed and covetousness. "...but until you the people of Sea Cows Bay and the Third District stand up and let the public and government know that we have a vested interest in bringing commerce to this area, it is not going to come," he had stated.
In March 2012, Hon. Fraser had claimed that the monies were not allocated towards the project and had in fact been transferred to the Consolidated Fund.
The Sea Cows Bay Harbour Development Project is being touted as a possible economic booster for the Third District.

Sea Cows Bay got too many greedy people like you in it, but that aint goin stop Sea Cows Bay from progressing, it can only slow it down.
I guess the District Rep. was right when he warned us about pricks like you GoonSquad who thinks that everything thats good, is too good for Sea Cows Bay.
Anyhow, have a nice life among your wicked badminded friends in hell.
How about the Government itself? the filling in of mangroves, landfill, is there a social impact study, a traffic study with planned commercial stores on the coast side, where is the infrastucture going to go (sewage, electrical, etc?) Who gave permission to landfill to begin with? No notice or explanation-- so it seems that Government already played its role by opening the can of worms. even CFD had to protect the ancient and large mangroves before they were lost forever, and even that is not promised. Seems a few are dictating the development. again there is not enough room what with the marina on the other side for what is planned.
