This is how we should treat young men in our Community who do something positive with their lives. We should stop making heroes of those who choose to live a life of crime and stop blaming someone or something else when they caught and punished!

he is already on a big salary. save the money for someone who is still trying to get there.

I agree he has had a great welcome home, but if he starts full time in the NBA leauge he will be on at the very lowest $900,000.00 a year plus bonuses

Correction. His salary is just under 600 mil for this season, not 900 mil. State taxes are high in California. Besides that, factor in training and other expenses, and DMoi will be lucky if he takes home quarter mil of that money. Granted that he will be making more than most of us can only dream of.

Wrong AGAIN. It’s neither 600 nor 900 mil…it’s in the hundreds of thousands.

When is someone going to tell the Premier that a bassador is a breed of dog? Hopefully before any females are added to the list. Oh boy.

For those who are against his reward from the Government REMEMBER Chantal Malone received a plot of land and $30,000 for her historic feat at the 2019 games in Lima, Peru.

This has been a standard for athletes who make a significant contribution in their field and what D’Moi Hodge did is HISTORIC.

IF HE WAS NOT GIVEN ANYTHING YOU WOULD STILL COMPLAIN.

Take the time to LISTEN to his and JR Chiverton’s speeches about the HARD WORK, DEDICATION, FAITH, and PATIENCE it took to get selected for the NBA - a historic moment for the BVI.

This young man is ALREADY GIVING BACK BY CONDUCTING BASKETBALL SESSIONS ON TORTOLA AND VIRGIN GORDA THIS WEEK.

Athletes like Chantal are regarded as amateurs and are unpaid. Basketball players are professionals and are paid handsomely. It would have been a better idea to issue a check in D'Moi's name to help other up and coming athletes in the region.

Adding VI to Bassador does not change the meaning of the word.

These speeches require someone with the intellect to know right from wrong.

I don’t understand having a motorcade for someone at the beginning of his professional journey. Now is the time to work hard and make a career. Not to think he has already made it.

As for the cash - don’t understand it. He doesn’t need it. Put it in to new facilities for the future athletes.

Bassador is a mix between a basset hound dog and a Labrador retriever. What the etymology is going on. Neither would 'ambassador' be appropriate as this represents a diplomat from a sovereign state of which the BVI is not. Couldn't be more creative? No? Ok

WHAT TMYOU SAID IS WELL TAKEN , BUT TALKING TO YHE YOUTHS OF TODAY IS NOT GOING TO BE WELCOMED , ESPECIALLY IF THEY ARE ALREADY HOOKED ON COCAINE , AND THOSE WHO AIN'T HOOKED AIN'T GOING TO HEAR YOU BECAUSE THE WANT TO TO GET RICH QUICK OVERNIGHT LIKE THOSE SHOWING OFF THEIR BIG GOLD CHAINS RINGS OR JEWELRY , OR LIKE
THOSE WHO HAS THOSE BIG PALACES , CONDO OR CASTLE S ON THE HILLS , SO YOUR VOICE WILL JUST PASS THROUGH THEIR EARS , ( AND WE ALL KNOW THAT )
BUT HE CAN DONATE IT TO YHE POO PEOPLE HOME BY BUYING SOME OF THE THINGS HIMSELF THAT THEY NEED , TO MAKE SURE THEY GETS THEM , THAT WOULD BE VERY HELPFUL ,/ HE IS GOING TO BE MAKING BIGS BUCKS , SO HE DONT NEED IT ( LIVE AND LET LIVE )

Looks like 2nd District Rep forgot the world was watching him when on the podium he said ayo ain’t got no manners when the Premier and other guest from the East (Olympic Chairperson) was chatting amongst themselves. All along he kept interrupting D’Moi while he spoke then proceeded to lack any kind of humility bragging about how many people in House of Assembly from the 2nd District.

      Pompous is an understatement.

I am proud of this young man but you do realize why persons are seeking increments or extra pay, government gave him $20k, don’t forget government already funded a lot of his hospitality and schooling. We can’t afford nothing or save any money in the BVI. We need help, he will be getting tripple our pay in a month alone.

There just is no pleasing you people messon. You give money, it’s a problem. You don’t give money, it’s a problem. The average Joe got bigger grant money for sitting around and doing nothing the other day. What the hell is there to be upset about for a national hero getting $20,000 from the government and an additional $5000 from a bank??? If other athletes are deserving, they should get too.
