Dion M. Jennings launches D6 bid as Independent
Jennings launched his campaign yesterday May 7, 2015 with a press statement outlining his intentions and highlighted some of the issues that have caused him to decide to run.
He also expounded on some of these during an exclusive interview with this news site, including a secondary road in Baugher’s Bay and recreational facilities for families in the district.
No proper infrastructure
“The secondary road in Baugher’s Bay has not been established. It has been a walking trail for all those years. The Government has not created the proper infrastructure to cut and pave [that road] and it creates the situation in Baugher’s Bay where if an emergency happens no one can get out of the district,” he said, adding that it cannot just be one way in and one way out.
He said that the infrastructure in the district is in a state of dilapidation. “Roads damaged by rains a few years ago have not been addressed. There are drainage issues…the ghut has not been properly maintained on a regular basis. They are not being cleaned on a regular basis and when the salt water comes it is backed up and it creates a problem for the community,” he told Virgin Islands News Online in an exclusive interview.
“There are public facilities that are not being maintained and managed. We have built facilities with Government funds and we have just left them there, dilapidated with no management in place," he said.
In his release, he said that after thought, prayers, consideration and discussion with his wife, children, family and friends, he made the decision to contest the 6th District electoral seat in the House of Assembly in the next general elections as an Independent candidate.

This is not a special olympics race...
This is a political election to see who will manage the affairs of the country...
While the party that is in is not perfect by far flying in from Atlanta for a couple of months out of the week to take advantage of a contract is not the ideal candidate.
Spend some real time in the BVI looking after and caring for the community from the millions you have made in BVI contracts then we will take you seriously. For now you are simple a vote spoiler...
