Digital Transformation introduced in Records Management
Following a soft launch of the Government’s Work Permit Prototype-Online System in April, public officers from various departments were introduced to the principles and practices of the field, after receiving training in Records Management.
They were also introduced to electronic records management and digitisation at the session which saw the official launch of the Records and Information Management Project.
The officers gained knowledge of best practices with the record life cycle and the concepts of records classification, retention, storage and disposition through practical exercises and group work.
Acting Permanent Secretary in the Premier’s Office, Mrs Elvia Smith-Maduro said the Records Management project is a foundation component of the Digital Transformation/e-Government initiative to make government more accessible to citizens and other stakeholders.
The facilitators were Ms Andrea Williams and Dr Terence Frater from Januvation Solutions Inc.
Ms Williams and Dr Frater are part of the team that is also working with the Department of Information and Technology (DOIT) to implement an online Work Permit Application system.
The Records and Information Management Project will facilitate the digitisation of the existing records of the Labour and Immigration Departments and make the information available for processing by the Work Permit Application System.
This project will set the tone for rolling out a comprehensive and consistent records management programme across all government ministries and departments.
The Digital Transformation/E-Government Project is being led by the Premier’s Office and is a component of the Public Service Transformation.
