Digicel presents cheque to BVI Cancer Society
To fight for a cure, customers showed their support by purchasing handsets from Digicel’s DL Smartphone range in Tortola and Virgin Gorda, and for each handset sold Digicel donated $5 directly to the BVI Cancer Society.
Digicel presented a cheque for $1,000 to Gloria Fahie, Head of the BVI Cancer Society, to continue its mission to raise awareness of breast cancer, and other cancers and celebrate cancer survivors.
“Together with Digicel, the BVI Cancer Society can reach more members of the BVI community with our message of hope and support. We will continue our work to raise awareness and educate our communities that all cancers matter and continue to fight for a cure,” commented Gloria Fahie.
Digicel also donated a Samsung smartphone to the Annual Masquerade Ball Silent Auction and held a bake sale in honour of “Paint the Town Pink” at its Road Town store. Customers supported by purchasing over 300 cupcakes and posted pictures in their #PinkBVI shirts to Digicel’s social media pages.
“Giving back to our community is a core value for the Digicel family, and we commend the great work undertaken by the BVI Cancer Society. They provide men and women a fighting chance by promoting early detection, education, and support services. We are honoured to contribute to their mission, and we are delighted Digicel customers supported this campaign throughout the month,” shared Digicel CEO Conor Looney.
