Digicel & Lions clubs hosted special needs fun day!

Digicel CEO Alan Bates encourages an athlete in Lions Special Needs Games on Saturday.
ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI - Digicel, the BVI’s Bigger, Better Network, was pleased to have again partnered with the Lions Clubs of the BVI to host a day of fun for special needs children and adults on Saturday October 29, 2011 at the A. O. Shirley Recreation Grounds.

According to a press release from the company, scores of persons turned out to support the enthusiastic athletes as they participated in several games, which got underway just after 10am.

In addition to its substantial monetary contribution, Digicel gave away lots of promotional items for everyone and staff turned out to assist the organizers and interact with the children.

Digicel’s CEO Alan Bates noted that this is the fourth consecutive year that Digicel has been sponsoring this event and was delighted as always to see the expressions of pure joy on the faces of all of the participants. “Members of the Digicel staff took time out of their weekend to come down to the Grounds and be a part of this important event and we totally enjoyed it,” he said.

Bates added: “We commend the Lions Clubs for continuing to host the Special Needs Games as we also recognize the importance of doing this for this special group of people. Digicel looks forward to working with the Lions in the future.”

Digicel was also commended for its involvement in the games by Members of Government and other officials who attended.
