Digicel announces record Black Friday sales; celebrates its 7th anniversary in the VI
Throughout the day over 1,000 customers visited Digicel stores in Tortola and Virgin Gorda, with new customers rewarded with exclusive handset promotions while loyal Digicel customers received discounted devices and ALL IN Christmas offers, while also receiving free gifts throughout the day.
Over the last 7 years, Digicel has established itself as the most popular network in the Territory due to its ongoing commitment to deliver the best value, the best service and the best network experience for all customers in the Virgin Islands.
Digicel as a company, prides itself on giving back to the community especially through its consistent investment in youth and sport. This year, Digicel welcomed the BVI’s Athlete of the Year, Chantel Malone, as its newest Brand Ambassador. Ms. Malone holds an impressive seven national records and is set to represent the BVI in Rio at next year’s Olympic Games.
In August, Digicel launched the Digicel NBA Jumpstart Clinics with the BVI chosen to be the first of six markets to launch the initiative. Two extraordinary BVI players, D’moi Hodge and Malachy Payne, went on to win places in the final eight as they showcased their extraordinary talent. They have been rewarded with a trip to New York to visit an NBA facility, experience professional training drills and get a glimpse of the life they could have as NBA players.
Recently, Digicel welcomed President of the BVI Athletics Association and the BVI Olympic Association, Dean ‘The Sportsman’ Greenaway and Mr. Jason Edwin as members of the Digicel BVI ambassador family.
Digicel also supports local music and in April, signed popular BVI act, Showtime Band, who continue to make an impact in the BVI and abroad. Showtime Band, sponsored by Digicel will be travelling to Anguilla over the holiday season to create a “Home and Away” music event to promote unity through music in the neighboring British territory. Digicel also facilitated Showtime’s music becoming available to a worldwide audience via their relationship with a global music streaming service.
2015 also saw significant investment and expansion with Digicel investing $1.2 million improving Digicel customer’s network experience even further across Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Jost Van Dyke, Anegada, Peter Island and Cooper Island. Additionally, Digicel enhanced 38 sites across the Territory to improve coverage, mobile internet speeds and data capacity for its customers both on land and when they travel at sea between islands.
Digicel continues to offer the best value in the BVI and recently expanded its Roam Like You’re Home plan by adding the UK, plus a new Two-Day Pass, allowing customers to travel abroad and still pay the same rates as in the BVI. Most recently, Digicel launched its revolutionary new ALL IN bundle which allow customers to surf, stream, share, talk and text ALL IN, with endless free social media.
Rounding off the year Digicel has partnered with the Tree of Hands charity, as well as the Family Support Network to gift less fortunate families in the community at Christmas. Digicel is also hosting an on-going Christmas tour that supports the Evelyn Roche Learning Centre as well as several other organisations that support children's education and development.
