Digicel announces Go Green Initiative Partnership with Road Town Wholesale
Plastic waste is a hot topic in the territory at the moment, so Digicel and Road Town Wholesale have decided to partner together in an initiative to reduce plastic bag wastage. The companies have combined forces to produce 10,000 re-usable shopping bags which will be distributed for free to residents of the British Virgin Islands.
Digicel BVI CEO, Declan Cassidy announced the initiative, saying ‘Thousands of bags are used within the British Virgin Islands each year and it is very important that we all play our part by reducing waste within this beautiful country we live in’. He went on to exclaim - ‘We, at Digicel are delighted to be working once again on a unique initiative with Road Town Wholesale.’
The bags are made of fully recyclable material which is 100% biodegradable.
‘We want to support the environment with this go green initiative and reduce the environmental impact of our business – small changes can make a big difference. Shoppers can collect the bags at any of our RTW locations and we ask that customers please use them every time they shop in store.’ Mr Simon Potter, Managing Director of Road Town Wholesale stated.
Bags will be distributed at various locations while stocks last to members of the public.
