Diabetes Association to form human circle on World Diabetes Day
“Today we observe this condition that affects millions of people worldwide, and thousands in our own Territory!” the diabetes association wrote on its Facebook Page.
The post added that while insulin was developed 100 years ago, type 2 diabetes is a major threat to health today even with it being “preventable and curable”.
Human circle for diabetes awareness
As part of activities to commemorate World Diabetes Day, the association has put out an invitation for the public to join them at the Cyril B. Romney Tortola Pier Park this afternoon at 5:30 PM “form a human circle to show that we are all connected and united!”
The BVI Diabetes Association has been celebrating Diabetes Awareness Month this month and have had a number of activities to include a free eye screening at the West End Community Centre, a diabetes awareness t-shirt sale and the Elton Georges Annual Run/Walk.
Activities continue tomorrow, November 15, 2024, with a Fundraising Cocktail Party at the Governor’s House.
