Derrick R. Varlack is new BVIBF President

Some 10 posts were up for grabs in the body that governs all basketball leagues and players in the territory. They included President, Vice President, General Secretary, Assistant Secretary, Treasurer, and Assistant, Public Relations Officer and one player representative each for Junior and Senior players.
The new executive will serve from 2019 to 2023.
Mr Varlack, a businessman and former basketball player, beat out the likes of veteran player, organiser and Physical Education (PE) Teacher, Kennedy H. Bass and long-time coach and PE Teacher Derwin Scatliffe.
The post of President was previously held by Mr Guy L. Malone.
Mr Edwin was voted in as Vice-President ahead of businessman and coach, Cromwell Smith aka ‘Edju En Ka’ and referee Norvel A. Young.
The BVIBF is also recognised by and is a part of the International Basketball Federation (FIBA) and has responsibility for the Virgin Islands (VI) National Basketball Team.
