Deputy Governor, David D. Archer Jr. now acting Gov until March 17, 2024
The Deputy Governor Archer Jr’s appointment is in accordance with section 37 (1) (a) of the Virgin Islands Constitution Order, 2007.
The constitution states, “During any period when the office of Governor is vacant, or the Governor is absent from the Virgin Islands or is for any other reason unable to perform the functions of his or her office, the Deputy Governor shall during Her Majesty’s pleasure, act in the office of Governor and shall perform the functions of that office accordingly.”
Mr Daniel Pruce was recently sworn in as the 15th Governor of the Virgin Islands on January 29, 2024, after taking the Oath of Office before an audience of family, legislators, public servants, and others in the Virgin Islands (VI).
It remains unclear if the Governor is out of the VI for personal or official business relating to his post.
