BASSETERRE, St Kitts - As part of its corporate social responsibility, Delta Petroleum has made a substantial monetary contribution to the St Christopher and Nevis Royal Police Force as a means of boosting wellness of that body which will not just benefit officers but the general public.

Delta Petroleum today May 31, 2016 made the monetary contribution which will be used to pay for water and other necessities needed for the health walks planned.

Speaking to this news site, Regional General Manager of Delta Petroleum Bevis A. Sylvester said that as the police force is the first point of contact when something happens in the society, the company thought it wise to focus attention on making the health and wellness of the force a priority.

“They are the ‘go to’ persons when anything happens in the society and health and wellness in the police force is very important,” he said.

“And to this end we decided not only are we going to support this wellness but also be a part of it and we are going to join in with the police force and promote wellness within our own organisation as well,” said Sylvester.

He said as such Delta Petroleum will be joining the police force on their upcoming walk and on subsequent walks.

“We believe that it is our corporate social responsibility to support the police in any way, form or fashion that will prolong, that will bring respect to, and that will help other businesses in the society to understand the importance in terms of supporting policing in all facets,” he said.

He noted that when “We help the police we are helping ourselves.”

Sylvester added that the support will continue for the next three years.

Commenting on the contribution by Delta Petroleum, Police Constable and Chairman of the Police Sports Club Jerry Watts thanked the corporate entity for its donation which he said will assist towards the next health walk this Saturday June 4, 2016.

He said the monthly walks will also see the participation of the wider public inclusive of other service bodies such as the defence force, customs and others.

“We have had three successful health walks already and a fourth one is scheduled for Basseterre in St Kitts this Saturday,” Mr Watts said.
