Was it technical difficulties or poor planning? What typical difficulties? Did the asphalt plant, milling machine, roller, asphalt paver, etc, ‘bruck down’ ? Why the public writ large could not be told the exact reason(s) for the delay? Was the reason too embarrassing or you think the people don’t deserve an explanation or need to know? Keep it up!! Remember Saint Vincent and Grenadine,,St. Lucia or even Barbados, and Grenada a few years ago. Common on man! An overlay is a simple process; it is milling the surface course and laying a new course.

Or they didn't have the money to buy asphalt? Have they paid the supplier? Does the "bruck" equipment need parts and they owe the supplier or mechanic?

We need to see audited financials and know where the government accounts stand. The premier promised timely reports on the non-stop party and other government-sponsored events. Have those been posted on the government website?

Poor planning and lack of funding. They going kill my lil cousin with work over there at the asphalt plant. Not a ounce of gratitude for his hard work.

What is the contributing cause(s) of VI roads short lifecycle and increasing construction cost ? Writ large, IMO the contributing causes of the short lifecycle are design, construction, maintenance, repair,, inspection, testing, operations, single road class, product, etc. What simple problem solving technique can be employed to get to the root cause of roads’ shorten life?

5 Why. The 5 Why problem solving technique was developed by Sakichi Toyoda, founder of Toyota Industries, and father of the Toyota Production System, to get to the root cause of issues. The 5 Why problem-solving technique is an iterative process, which asks a series of ‘ Why’ questions to get to the root cause of a problem. A simple example is that a car won’t start. Why won’t the car start? The battery is dead. Why is the battery dead? The alternator is malfunctioning. Why is the alternator malfunctioning? It is at the end of its lifecycle. And so ……Moreover, using the 5 Why to find the root cause of roads shortened lifecycle and increasing cost may be a little more complex. Nevertheless, if not the 5 Why, another method must be employed to find the root cause, reducing cost , improving quality, enhancing functionality, etc. I digressed.

Overlaying a road is a maintenance process which helps to attain and extend the design lifecycle. Moreover, hilly countries such as Switzerland, Austria, Oman, China, US, etc road systems can be benchmark.

To Leonard: Good read. Our roads last up to first heavy, intense, rain event at most. What do you mean by a) single road class, product, testing? Where would one stop in the 5 Why process?

Would the technical glitch be that the people in charge are incompetent and don't care?

Local Road Warrior here. Sick and tired of being sick and tired of the bad and deteriorating roads. Just slapping hot on failed roads without even minimal prep and calling road construction or repair or maintenance is insulting to road users and citizens and a gross waste of taxpayer scarce and limited dollars. Looking at the pics, I hope they are going to mill, proof roll, ie, looking for soft spots ,,etc before laying asphalt down.

"Delay in many traffic road projects overlay due to technical glitches"

Hmmmm, as usual. No, no. This time is extra usual.
    ????
Too many hidden things, and reasons not been told, muchless explained truthful to us.

Relax bro. What's the fuss. Don't cuss. These happening are normal in the B.V.I political arena.

When you get in mucks, blaim them on technical glitches, not us?

    High gun crimes: technical glitches?

Low income minimum wages earners: technical glitches?

Youths, and adults too, been allowed to ride motor cycles, and scooters without head protection: technical glitches?

Nights clubs, and striptease being allowed to party all night until sun rises: technical glitches?

No proper political accountability, some of the times none: technical glitches?

Now I got it. When you are right, you are right, even if you can hardly afford to buy food, but on the other hand, we, the political leaders, don't feel that we need to explain anything to you. So don't be confused any longer. It wasn't we that voted for you, but rather you, the majority of voters voted for us.

Wake up people of the B.V.I.

Frett not yourselves because of evil doers, but rather seek the Lord God our Creator, His face, not only His handouts, His way of knowledge, wisdom, peace, and strength, In His is no glitches. Amen.

Incompetence is not a glitch. It’s been abundantly clear that minister and his staff are woefully unfit to govern even the simplest projects.

Don’t worry though, VINO to the rescue to provide cover for nothing getting done. Hurry up deflect to the opposition leader, that’s the only card you have.

The people are fed up and patiently waiting.

It’s all that Chinese equipment can’t get parts for unless theres a small nominal pay off
