ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI – Inside sources have confirmed that Ms Debra Leslie has been appointed to the position of Human Resources Manager of the British Virgin Islands Health Services Authority (BVIHSA).

Ms Leslie was introduced to the senior management of Peebles Hospital last Wednesday, March 27, 2013.

Some senior members of the BVIHSA staff are of the opinion that despite claims that Flax may not have the qualifications for the position, her acting for the period has proven that she is competent for confirmation. "A person, especially her, who has been acting for so many years would have gained so much experience in that position, should have been appointed because she has been doing a commendable job," said the source.

It is being touted that Ms Flax will soon be placed in a position as advisor to the board. Her substantive position is a Senior Resource Specialist.

Chairman of the BVIHSA Bishop John I. Cline confirmed that Ms Leslie is newly appointed to the position of Human Resources Manager.

Morale at the BVIHSA has been lowest with the allegations of non-renewal of contracts for doctors and their forced resignations and complaints over the alleged poor service at Peebles Hospital. No doubt the new Human Resources Manager has an uphill task of motivating affected staff.

We must thank Mrs. Flax for her dedicated service to the Authority, especially that she was sought out for the same positive qualities that demonstrated whilst at the bank. It is extremely unfortunate that her stellar reputation and meaningful contribution to the Authority are now being diminished, perhaps inadvertently so, by the slant of this article and the comments of bloggers. We might wish to consider that perhaps, and just perhaps, Mrs. Flax personally wished for and requested a change in her position with the Authority. It is not that everyone who has retired relatively young wishes to plod through their retirement in a full-time job. Mrs. Flax might very well need her free time to pursue interests that she has had to put on hold. Please, let us wish her well and God's blessings. Important, too, even as we consider that it is the media's role to apprise us of what is happening within the Authority, we must allow Mrs. Flax her dignity as she has always been a very gracious person.

Thank you....THANK YOU for this comment, it proves that for every 10 idiot bloggers, there is one with enough common sense and discernment to look at both sides of the coin. I do not know who you are but I would love to shake your hand!

Enough people warned that Mr Duffs Bottom would be a very bad idea for Chairman. NDP would do well to sort this mess out a good while before the next election.

For those of you who don't know, Debra Leslie grew up right here in Tortola, was an High Honor student of the then BVI High School and relocated to the US to further her education. Ms Leslie is a hard working, intelligent and dependable young lady who will bring integrity to the much needed BVIHSA.

As a nation, we should use our diversity as part of the process to make us a stronger country not divide us because of our personal prejudices and bias. What does where a person is born has to do with it if she is best suited for the position. Some people has selfishlessly contributed more to this country than some others will ever do in a lifetime. We should stop bashing each other. Some who blow the loudest are sometimes the laziest on the job. They take days off evey chance they get, they front themselves for praise but do not want to compliment others when you who do the real work, get pushed behind on the back burner.
