SEA COW’S BAY, Tortola, VI – A new auto detailing service centre opened its doors today June 6, 2014 with a promise of a range of professional services and creating jobs both full time and part time.

DD’s Detailing Services and Sales, located in Albion, Sea Cow’s Bay specializes in vinyl cleaning, leather treatment, buffing, polishing, vacuuming, engine degreasing and vehicle cleaning.

Owner of the business Mr Darel Christopher said that the idea for the business came from his son Darel Christopher Jr whom he said wanted to develop a car wash. He said that while they were filling out the applications for the necessary authorization to carry out the business, they wanted to upgrade it from being a car wash to a full service and detailing centre.

“It is a family affair…five of us,” he said, “my two daughters, myself, my son and my wife. We have developed this business as a team.”

He said that through the many obstacles and challenges, “we somehow have been able to put it together as you can see what is taking place here today.”

He said that in addition to the services outlined above, special attention will be placed on tyres in terms of air pressure balancing, on rims, whether they need buffing or polishing, on the interior in terms of vacuuming and steam cleaning all types of interior types whether fabric or leather.

He said that they are equipped with special tools to perform cleaning of air condition vents and soon will have a kit to repair hairline cracks on windscreens.

“So we basically cover all the detailing aspects as it relates to your vehicle,” he said.

In terms of pricing, he said that it would vary depending on the size of the vehicle and the services needed.

Christopher said that the business will employ immediately four full time employees and two part time employees. He said that it is envisaged with the expansion of services that they would have a complement of eight full time employees.

Speaking at the opening of the business, Third District Representative Hon Julian Fraser RA remarked that he has watched Christopher through the various stages in his life as an entrepreneur. “I watched him when he was the owner of a bicycle shop. He has ventured into other aspects of entrepreneurship,” said Hon Fraser.

“One of the most compelling things about Darel is his will and his spirit to be successful. I watched him when he got injured and I watched him on his road to recovery. And I remember him for the hard work that he put in to make sure that he was able to be at the stage he is at right now,” said Hon Fraser.

He said that the business that Christopher opened today “is not one that too many people expected to see in this neighbourhood. But yet he did it and it has every indication that it will be a successful business.”

Hon Fraser lauded Debra L. Christopher, wife of Darel Christopher, for being by his side on his road to recovery and for being involved in the business.
