PASEA, Tortola, VI- Former Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court, The Right Honourable Dame Janice M. Pereira, DBE was today, Tuesday, October 22, 2024, made a Paul Harris Fellow.

A Paul Harris Fellow recognition acknowledges individuals who have made a significant impact in their community. The award is bestowed on such individuals by Rotary.

Dame Pereira, a Virgin Islander, was pinned as a Paul Harris Fellow by Rotarian Abigail O’Neal, the daughter of the late former Premier Ralph T. O’Neal, OBE this morning at The Moorings.

“It was my humble honour this morning to pin Dame Janice Pereira as a Paul Harris Fellow on Behalf of the BVI Rotary Family. The first woman to be Chief Justice of the Eastern Caribbean Court and now the first Virgin Islander to be appointed to His Majesty's Privy Counsel,” Ms O’Neal stated on social media today.

Week-long celebration

The Virgin Islands is currently in a week-long National Celebration in honour of the beloved daughter of the soil, Dame Pereira, on the occasion of her retirement from the Eastern Caribbean Supreme Court as Chief Justice.

The celebrations themed, ‘Celebrating our Radiant Daughter: A Journey from the Virgin Islands to the Privy Council’, are also being held on her recent appointment to His Majesty’s Most Honourable Privy Council.

The celebrations, which run from October 21 to 27, 2024, will feature fourteen (14) public and private events.

      , Old men. Leave the young women alone, safe your money for when you get old so you can hire a care taker, these young people once successful, won't look on you, won't study you, Can't blame them, they get a ladder to go to the too and they utelized it....Then again, 2 or 3 sides to each story,, Maybe the older person also enjoy benefits.
