D9 students reminded to ‘Be a Buddy, Not a Bully’ @ Back-to-School event
There were no less than three hundred children, parents and community-minded persons at Jeffrey Caines Arena, which was filled with inspiration, play, food, and gifting.
Students were presented with backpacks laden with school supplies and goodies, thanks to the collaboration of I Support Positive Youths Organisation headed by Allington O. Creque aka ‘Gumption’, District Representative Honourable Vincent O. Wheatley and Nagico Insurances.
Be a Buddy, Not a Bully
One of the highlights of the event for the children was an interaction with author and storyteller Loverly Sheridan.
Ms Sheridan, who is no stranger to the Virgin Gorda and wider VI community, spent time discussing with the children the concept of Being a Buddy, Not a Bully, which is also the title of a book she has written
"I am really impressed with you kids. You know what this means, and it tells me that you have been putting this to practice," Sheridan stated.
Honourable Wheatley expressed profound gratitude to Ms Sheridan for the reassurance given to the students and to the several persons and business entities who supported the back-to-school drive this year.
