ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Minister for Health and Social Development Hon Vincent O. Wheatley, also the Ninth District Representative, has commended the Royal Virgin Islands Police Force (RVIPF) for capturing serial burglar Paul M. Jack.

Jack, a Vincentian who has been residing in the VI illegally, was arrested by the police in an operation led by Virgin Gorda detectives on January 4, 2025.

“Let me just stop to thank and commend the police for the excellent work they did over the holiday season in apprehending a criminal who was wreaking havoc in the Virgin Gorda community,” he said during the Continuation of the First Sitting of the Second Session of the Fifth House of Assembly (HoA) on Wednesday, January 8, 2025.

Jack has since been charged with Illegal Entry, Criminal Trespass, Armed with an Offensive Weapon, Assault on Police, Resisting Arrest, and Aggravated Burglary and investigations into his involvement in other burglaries and robberies are ongoing.

VG relies heavily on tourism- Hon Wheatley

Hon Wheatley was giving his contribution to the debate on the Police (Amendment) Bill 2024 where he said as the representative for a district that “relies heavily on tourism”, crime and tourism do not work well together.

“I’ve always tried to have a very good working relationship with the police,” Hon Wheatley stated.

He added that support must be given to the police to make sure they gain the “confidence of us and the confidence of the public...the police can’t solve crime [alone] it takes all of us working together with a common goal”.

Yes Rep. Wheatley, good responsible move to big-up those whose job it is to protect and serve - big shout-out to the police....
Somehow from whst's been said about this offender it appears that he is in dire need of mental/psychological help. So let us assess and understand the reasoning behind his actions.
    Blessings to all.

I refuse to AGREE! with your statement about the criminal is in dire need of mental help. Like really? And if he is indeed in need of mental help, let his Country of origin take care of that. He broke the law of the territory. He is not a legal citizen of the territory and should not be our problem.ALL YOU ILLEGALS IN THE BVI ILLEGALLY, IT IS TIME TO SERIOUSLY START LOOKING OVER YOUR SHOULDERS. IF YOU WANT TO BE IN ANOTHER MAN’S BACKYARD, DO IT THE RIGHT WAY AND THE MAN WILL WELCOME YOU IN HIS BACKYARD YOU COME THE WRONG WAY, YOU WILL NOT BE WELCOME.

Just something to think Mr. Wheatley, How long have you been D9 Rep? Weren’t you not aware that an illegal that was deported from the Territory and some how slipped back into the same Territory to become a serial criminal? Strange right? District leaders knows and supposed to know what is going on in their Districts. Did this not came to your attention? Maybe it did but it was not a priority seeing the way things is done around here.
