ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The public is in for an exciting evening when Her Majesty’s Customs annual ball gets underway tomorrow.
Patrons will celebrate the 10th Annual Customs Ball under the theme, ‘A Night of

Intrigue – A Black and White Masquerade Ball’ at Callaloo Prospect Reef from 9pm with entertainment by The Razor Blades, DJ Bertrum and Cool Session Brass from St. John.

Admission is $20 and is payable at the door.

In inviting all to share in the memorable occasion, Commissioner of Customs Mr.Wade Smith told the Department of Information and Public Relations that, “This year’s event is not only being held to recognise 10 years of the annual ball, but also to maintain good relations with the public we proudly serve.”

In a subsequent interview, Customs Officer Ms. Kindra Pickering, one of the

event’s organisers, said, “The ball is usually held in January at the end of Customs Week, but because this is the 10th anniversary, we decided to make it special. We took a little more time to plan to ensure that all attendees have an unforgettable night.”

The department celebrated its 14th Annual Customs Week last month, under the

theme, “Borders Divide, Customs Connects through Compliance”.

Her Majesty’s Customs, included in the portfolio of the Ministry of Finance, is charged with the responsibility to safeguard the well-being and security of the Territory by facilitating legitimate trade, enforcing import and export regulations and conducting covert and overt surveillance of the Territory’s waters.
