Crown to call 2 witnesses in Elvis Freeman’s trial
Elvis Freeman appeared in the Magistrate’s Court on June 20 for the commencement of his trial but looked frustrated when Crown Counsel Janice Potter told the court that she was not ready to proceed and asked for an adjournment date.
She also stated that two witnesses will be called.
The 46 year-old man is charged with unlawful possession of cannabis, unlawful possession of crack/cocaine, failure to stop at the sound of a siren, driving a without drivers’ license, driving when not covered by insurance, resisting arrest, driving an unlicensed vehicle and escaping lawful custody. The incident occurred on February 5, 2012.
However, during a court appearance on February 22, Freeman told the Magistrate that he did not have any drugs on him and he "picked them off the ground". He had also denied resisting arrest.
The defendant is on bail and is represented by Mary Lou Creque.
