COVID-19: Vulnerable persons should make effort to get booster shots– Dr Georges
This comes as all of VI’s recent three COVID-19 deaths have been in elderly individuals, particularly a 91-year-old female and an 82-year-old male who died on February 6, 2022, in addition to an 87-year old female who died on February 8, 2022.
“Vulnerable persons should make a special effort to adhere to the public health protocols and avail themselves of opportunities to get vaccinated and boosted to lower their vulnerability to the severe impacts of COVID-19,” Dr Georges said.
Dr Georges said persons are also reminded to seek care early if they are affected by COVID-19 and are feeling ill.
Seek help if experience symptoms - Dr Georges
“If you are experiencing prolonged fever, breathing difficulties or have any other severe adverse reaction after testing positive for COVID-19, do seek medical attention early,” Dr Georges advocated.
The Health Ministry says it continues to advocate for persons to reduce their risks by getting vaccinated or boosted, washing and/or sanitising hands for 20 seconds.
The Ministry of Health also reminded persons to continue wearing masks properly, physically distancing and covering coughs and sneezes, regardless of a vaccination status.

Let those who want to get boosted opt to do so. Booster uptake in a lot of countries is weak. USA less than 30%, Canada 45% Spain 49 %. Israel is a strong 56% and are now on their 4th dose. I am sure the Caribbean is much worse. Pharmaceutical companies have made enough money now time for them to release trial data for the sake of transparency but don't hold your breath.
Time to lift quarantine restrictions, and ease testing requirements as it has far too burdensome financially on people. Redirect your focus on healthy living programs in schools and nationwide. Refocus on investing in health care so we can have more specialists and more equipment at our hospital. Refocus on revamping the NHI or replacing it with a health tax.
