COVID-19 vaccinated persons carry less virus & recover faster - CDC
CHARLOTTE AMALIE, St. Croix, USVI - A U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention-led research has provided encouraging results for individuals who have contracted the Covid-19 virus after being vaccinated, including faster recovery times and a smaller footprint of the virus.
The CDC-led research, published Wednesday in the New England Journal of Medicine, found that sixteen people who got reinfected despite being vaccinated carried 40 percent less virus in their nose compared to 155 unvaccinated individuals. The tests were performed on people who had been inoculated with either the Pfizer or Moderna vaccines, both of which use mRNA technology.
Additionally, the vaccinated had a shorter duration of illness with about two fewer days spent in bed, and 66 percent lower risk of detectable virus after one week, according to the research.
The results support governments' push for inoculation, and administrations in states and territories have been pushing vaccine lotteries to boost numbers. To that end, the Bryan administration is running multiple vaccine lotteries, though Mr. Bryan said Monday vaccinations had dropped following a small bump that came after the original announcement of the lotteries.
"Originally when we announced it we saw a slight uptick, we went from about 120 to 300 vaccinations a day. That has slowed. We're currently organizing not only the vaccine structure but a campaign in order to drive people for that. Once the winners start announcing we are hoping that we'll get more of a push," the governor said.
Mark Thompson, an epidemiologist at the CDC who helped lead the study, said Wednesday that individuals who got vaccinated and became ill were less likely to have a fever.
“Even when people get vaccinated and did get infected, they were less likely to have an illness that causes a fever," he said. "There’s reason to think that even if you get infected, you have less virus to spread around and infect other people."
Researchers enrolled about 4,000 first responders, healthcare workers and essential workers for the study and found 204 of them became infected with Covid-19. Approximately 155 people of that group were unvaccinated and sixteen had received at least one mRNA shot.
Data from the remaining study subjects were excluded because their vaccination status could not be determined, according to the researchers. Dr. Thompson said five of the research subjects had received both doses of the two-dose vaccines, while the remaining had only received their first shot. None of those who became ill with the virus again were hospitalized as their cases were mild or moderate.

The data showed 40% less virus in vaccinated
Meaning vaccinated persons can carry in their nose 60% of the viral load of a typical unvaccinated person.
After one week they can carry 34% of the viral load of a typical unvaccinated person.
Absolutely stunning considering there is no quarantine for vaccinated.
Numbers are fun. Global policy makers are dumb and ours are following the wrong script. I pray they learn from the numbers.
