ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- Minister for Health and Social Development Honourable Carvin Malone (AL) said during the course of this week, some communities on Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Anegada will be screened for coronavirus, the virus that causes COVID-19.

While addressing the Territory in a live broadcast on August 24, 2020, to announce five new COVID-19 cases, he said in the case of Tortola, the communities that have been identified are Sea Cows Bay and East End/Long Look.

“I encourage the residents of these areas to pay close attention to the details of these testing arrangements as they are announced via local media,” he remarked.

He also mentioned that Cabinet gave the green light, in principle, to lease premises that can be used as a testing ground and alternative police custody facilities outside of the current police premises.

Minister Malone said this is necessary due to the increase testing demand associated with the contacts of the additional cases he announced.

Comprehensive approach

“The Government of the Virgin Islands continues to take a comprehensive approach in our efforts to protect public health by investing millions of dollars and the best available expertise across various disciplines. As the situation evolves, we must be prepared to change course quickly based on scientific evidence,” he remarked.

He continued: “Governments and health professionals cannot do this alone. It is also important to have active participation by every member of society. Among my worst fears has been the suspicion that certain persons in our community would favour greed over health and safety. This is the condition we have found ourselves in. As a community, we must rally together to protect each other against this threat by requiring more of ourselves and our fellow residents. We can get through this together only if you do your part.”

Hon Malone reminded persons that the most effective tools against the spread of COVID-19 are the simplest ones, such as cough etiquette and personal hygiene, physical distancing, frequent handwashing and sanitisation of surfaces, wearing of face masks and face shields.

“Know the symptoms of the disease and seek help by dialling 852-7650 if you experience any of the symptoms; fever, cough, headache, fatigue, loss of taste or smell, sore throat, muscle aches, or difficulty breathing,” he added.

I have always wondered, those who wear masks, are they going to wear them forever? Are they going to do “social distancing “ forever or until the vaccine is available?

Yes, until the pandemic is no longer a threat, whether due to a vaccine or a mutation of the virus, or an effective treatment. This is the most sensible way to protect those in your community until such time.

The Vaccine is ready it is when they will give the vaccines. Persons that are waiting for the vaccine will learn that it is very dangerous to have t taken. it is not safe. There is a female doctor that came out against the vaccine. she studies Virology. She said vaccines are not safe and will never be safe. If you notice when you introduce vaccine to the system especially children, why do you think that they say the vaccines will give side effects. To mothers that will have children born soon, please tell the doctors and nurses that you do not want your new born baby to be vaccinated.

I ain’t never taking a vaccine that’s why I’m stocked up on survival essentials, so when it’s time for me to lose my job and all of that I’ve been ready, I don’t owe the bank or anyone for that matter... Vaccines is a deal breaker for me

I am thinking of this more and more, if the world was to end today at this very second in the middle of what we're doing would we be ready?

Getting my life together to not get left behind.

    Vaccines takes approximately 5 years
    And still unsafe
Yet they fast track COVID vaccine in months and suddenly its safe
    Vaccines is dangerous
Why would anyone want a vaccine that’s fast tracked in a couple of months ?
