COVID-19 curfew lifted; Social distancing in place for events
Governor John J. Rankin, CMG in exercising the powers conferred by section 3, together with section 4 of the Curfew Act, 2017 (No. 20 of 2017) revoked the excising curfew order.
The order will take effect from tomorrow, Saturday, October 16, 2021, and more amendments also came to the existing public health order for COVID-19 control.
Meanwhile, Minister for Health and Social Development, Hon Carvin Malone (AL), according to the COVID-19 Control and Suppression Measures (No.4) (Amendment) (No.10) Order, 2021, has placed no restrictions on gatherings except in the case of an event.
Event gatherings restricted by numbers
“The organizers of an event and the proprietors of the premises hosting the event shall ensure (a) that the physical distancing protocols and sanitization measures are adhered to,” the order said.
The attendance at the event is also being restricted to no more than one person per nine square feet unless otherwise approved by the Minister for Health and Social Development.
The order was clear that events also include social occasions or activities, including parties, festivals, or organized sporting events.
