Could the VI be following in Cayman Islands footsteps?
During a press conference held yesterday, July 31, 2013 by Opposition Members, Hon. Andrew A. Fahie and Hon. Julian Fraser RA, several concerns and charges against the government were aired and described as raising red flags.
Hon. Fahie said, “We have named many areas during our presentation that have us concerned because they are saying if they violated anything, the UK (United Kingdom) would have told them. I don’t see it that way; I see it very clearly that the UK would sit right there, see it happening and when the time is right, all they have to do is move in.”
The First District Representative said the Opposition did not want this action to happen to the Territory or for any member of the public to say, “all thirteen members sat there and not one opened their mouth.”
Hon. Fahie said the issues affecting the Territory were much larger than any single political party and went beyond attempts at shifting attention to any fighting for leadership in his party.
“My duty here is simply pointing out to this government that you are putting this Territory in jeopardy of being subjected to the heavy hand of the Foreign and Commonwealth Office, similar to that of maybe Turks and Caicos, but definitely… the Cayman Islands,” Hon. Fraser said as he echoed Hon. Fahie.
Hon. Fraser also stated that at one point he was even being accused of being an agent for the Foreign and Commonwealth Office. He added that after viewing certain actions he was now convinced more than ever that there are certain members of the government that did not understand the protocols.
In March 2010, the United Kingdom ordered the Cayman Islands' government to reduce public spending and create a three-year plan to cut the deficit by 2013, and to present “a more positive image as a financial centre.” London also urged the Cayman Islands to find new revenue sources and diversify its struggling economy, after the Cayman authorities ruled out the introduction of direct taxation. It had also stated clearly that the Cayman Islands had no choice but to abide by the charge.

Whereas Dr. Smith and the NDP are doing the very opposite: saying nothing of substance and acting with child-like inexperience. The instances are too numerous to state here.
