ROAD TOWN, Tortola, VI- The Office of the Deputy Governor has embarked on an initiative themed ‘Transforming Together’ as they bring the now assented to Public Service Management Act, 2024 to public officers and the public.

Governor Daniel Pruce assented to the Public Service Management Act, 2024 in November 2024, marking the completion of Recommendation B36 of the Commission of Inquiry’s Report.

The act paves the way for a modern governance and management approach to Public Service, reflecting the commitment to building a public service that meets the evolving needs of the territory.

The initiative began last Friday, December 6, 2024, when leaders in the public service were engaged in a Senior Manager’s meeting on the act.

These meetings are part of an “extensive consultation and educational drive aimed at ensuring the Public Service and the Virgin Islands community are informed about the transformation that the Public Service Management Act, 2024 will drive,” an announcement from the Deputy Governor’s Office said.

It's a waste of time. In the civil service, those who do the real work are few and far between, and we carry a lot of dead weight. You could fire half of the civil service, and there would be no noticeable difference in the quality of service we provide to the public because many of us don't really work.

The Government hire to much friends and family members. So the ones with the real qualifications have to work under those who got the job and know nothing. Many of them spend time watching youtube and playing video games at work.

An intense Attitude and Customer Service Drive should be be introduced to the Public Service. And I say this because of personal experiences and observations on how people are being treated by Public Servants at various places. Please take this seriously.
