Claudia Creque Educational Centre receives combined $12.5K donation

THE SETTLEMENT, Anegada, VI- The Claudia Creque Educational Centre was the recipient of two cash donations on Friday, January 10, 2025, amounting to $12,500.00.

The presentation was made to the school’s PTA President Mrs Tieca Creque Walcott by Hon Lorna G. Smith, OBE (AL) who was accompanied by District 9 Representative Hon Vincent O. Wheatley and Executive Director of the Youth Empowerment Programme (YEP) Hon Stacy M. Mather (AL)

The first donation of $10,000 was on behalf oF “two generous BVI residents who love the territory”, Hon Smith said in a social media post. While the other donation of $2,500 was on behalf of NAGICO Insurances.

“It was a deeply moving moment for the PTA, and I am grateful to have been part of it,” she wrote in the post, continuing, “This event reminds us that there are individuals and businesses willing to step forward and support our children and our wider community, especially when they are confident that their contributions will be used to improve and uplift those around them.”

PTA plans to fund projects around school

The PTA of the Claudia Creque Educational Centre plan to use the funds for vital projects which include cooling as many rooms as possible, creating cover for the generator, establishing a school garden, installing proper signage among others.

“These initiatives will undoubtedly have a lasting positive impact on the students and the school community,” Hon Smith added.

She commended Hon Wheatley, who arranged travel to Anegada, and Hon Mather for accompanying her. “Together, we demonstrated the power of collaboration and commitment to our children’s future,” she stated in her post.
