Civil society group to march against Governor, Top Cop over poor policing
Cline in an interview with the media said the matter needs to be addressed and that the VI is in need of better policing and that this will start with the public making their concerns heard on February 14, 2024.
“I mean if you go back in the past years, we have more police now, we have more vehicles, but no one doing foot traffic. I know when we went to high school there was foot traffic in town, there was foot traffic police walking, meeting the businesses, and to form a sense of community, and that has gone away," he said.
He added, “And that's the biggest thing right now with the policing. I'm not sure what is being done with the Commissioner and the Governor in trying to eradicate or access where all these guns are coming [from] into the country. How they are going about trying to stop it? But at least we need to start from basics, start by having foot patrol on the beat, especially in town,” he said.
More police patrol in VI - Cline
Cline said the lack of police foot patrol is unlike any other country in the world, including the UK where there are police walking around throughout the business sector, checking in to make sure that citizens and businesses are safe.
He added that police don't have to be armed as they can communicate with others should they need armed patrol and that the presence of police makes a big difference.
“We're going to be marching, [February 14], 11:00 AM from the roundabout to the Governor's House to present him a letter with our concerns about the security in the territory. For those of the people who don't know, we tend to blame the politicians for security, but security solely falls on the Governor.”
He said the Police Commissioner also plays a role in security and that there is going to be galvanization of efforts to get signatures from across the VI including Virgin Gorda, Jost van Dyke, Anegada, and Tortola for business owners, residents, or anyone who wants to show their concerns in the form of a signature.
“We have to take a serious stand with the Governor to hold them accountable for security, just like how they want to hold our government accountable under the CoI,” he added.
Meanwhile, the National Security Council (NSC) in a statement on Monday, February 12, 2024, said foot patrol police officers will be deployed in Road Town, following the brazen daylight robbery on Aladdin Jewellery Store on Flemming Street on Friday last.

But allow political criminals to ignore, bamboozle, lie, swindle, trick and f us up? Think about why they have allowed the educ system to take a nosedive! Dumb down the people! And they will reign supreme

Vatican City can’t think past their independence and colonialism obsession. The corrupt gravy train will soon be over so they better drink as much as they can while they can.
Lockdown and search every house
Every business place
Maybe you should just report the criminals you ???? know.
