Christmas in the City kept ‘city alight’ - Mrs Brathwaite-Edwards
Mrs Brathwaite-Edwards told Virgin Islands News Online (VINO) on Monday, December 9, 2024, the two-night event saw over forty vendors out for Christmas in the City.
“All in all it was good, a lot of vendors, 49 vendors to be exact, kept the city alight for the weekend it was a really successful event once again,” she said.
The two-night event was held on December 6 and 7, 2024 at Shore Way Drive in Road Town. Friday, December 6, Mrs Brathwaite-Edwards told VINO was an even bigger sucess.
“We had a lot of young people out doing their dances, playing their music and singing and a lot of parents came out and supported the event Friday night,” she explained.
The Saturday night of the event saw a lot of bands playing while attendees enjoyed the scene. One band, Xclusive Band even made its debut at Christmas in the City.
The late Claude Parillon honoured
Meanwhile, this year’s Christmas in the City was dedicated to honouring the late Claude Parillon.
Mr Parillon was a staple of the Christmas in the City family and died this year while planning was underway.
Mrs Brathwaite-Edwards called the late Claude Parillon a “Dominican music icon” who contributed significantly to the Virgin Islands for decades.
While she was unable to reveal any plans for Christmas in the City 2025, Mrs Brathwaite-Edwards said, “Every year we get bigger and we get better.”
