CLERMONT, Florida, USA- [British] Virgin Islands’ athlete Chantel E. Malone, competing in her second long jump event of the season, emerged victorious at the PURE Athletics Sprint Elite Meet held at the NTC Training Center in Clermont, Florida on May 11, 2024.

Malone, who has returned from a knee injury and subsequent operation, found the winning leap (6.53 / 21’ 51/4”) in her first attempt.

Consistency

It was also her best set since 2021 with consistent marks in her flights (6.53, 6.49, 6.52, 6.45 + 2 fouled attempts).

Malone, who made VI history as the first PanAm Games medalist with her win at Lima 2019 and became the nation’s first Olympic finalist at the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, holds the National Record with a distance of 7.08m / 22’ 23” achieved at the Florida International “Pro Addition” International Track Meet, Miramar in March 2021.

Malone’s next scheduled meet is at the second Adidas Atlanta City Meet on May 18, 2024, as she continues her journey to qualifying for the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
