Ceres 10K Series wraps up on Saturday Nov. 9
The course traverses 6 miles of the Half Marathon course and a good warm up for the out of town loop.
Organisers are reminding runners that the roads will still be open to traffic and that entrants must all have experience on running open roads. “Runners should exercise great caution during the race and frequent road crosses are discouraged.”
Runners will start in front of the Watering Hole, (opposite Banco Popular) which is also acting as the race headquarters for the finale and awards ceremony.
Race time is 4:30 P.M. with registration at 4 P.M.
According to the Race Officials, “The first 40 runners will receive a Ceres T-shirt at registration and we are asking them to wear the shirt for the race and for good photo ops which will kick off a new Ceres 10k Facebook page.”
The awards ceremony will be held immediately after the race with medals and top branded prizes and products awarded to the first 3 males and female runners completing a series of 3 races and the first male/female walker completing a series. Additionally all runners completing a series will receive Ceres branded promotional gifts and products.
There should be a titanic battle in the Men’s race as long as the top runners turn up.
Guy Williamson, Maxford Pipe, Reuben Stoby and Ravi Sukhu will be jostling for final placings with Williamson perhaps the favourite to lift the overall Men’s Championship.
Williamson shrugged of the challenge of Stoby during race 4 at Beef Island after the first 2-mile lap to win the race, known as the Steelman Warmup, in 40:51.04.
Sukhu fought back to take second place in 41.37.43 while Stoby, who won the final 2-mile race of the HLSCC /Highland Spring Race Series in Virgin Gorda earlier in the day, finished third in 42:48.55.
Maxford Pipe, who also ran the 2-mile race in Virgin Gorda earlier in the day, was fourth in 44:33.19 while Zebalon McLean was fifth in 47:10.71.
Sarah Hayes ((50:15.19) turned back the challenge of Juliane Potgieter (51:28.17) to take the win in the ladies division. Kay Reddy, with her trademark cartwheel finish, was third.
